Chapter 480 - Fire Lotus Seeds

His questions surprised them as he pointed out, "From what I've come to understand, he is not just a just judge much like the righteous judge, but he is also strong enough to protect himself if any fairy who opposed to him tutoring the princess decides to attack him. Otherwise, he would not have accepted that request. Therefore, he is strong enough to stop the fake. Now that the president has appeared, he has solidified his power enough to stop him."

"Actually, Rook is right." Epel muttered in surprise, "Why didn't he stop the fake himself?"

Peony shook her head in disappointment, to which Rook mistook as her unwilling to share as he added with a mischevious smile, "Since you are willing to tell us all of these facts that should be a secret, it shows you have already implemented some plans to keep this conversation from leaking out, correct?"

"Ah, yes. It's a soundproof barrier." She answered, "Regarding the first question, "You hit the nail on the head. Have you ever heard that sometimes good intentions could lead to a disaster?"

"Is there such a saying?" Deuce tilted his head in confusion.

"There has been records in history where people who decided to help others have been lead down the wrong path and created a tragedy either costing hundreds of lives or the destruction of property and land." Trein recounted.

Peony nodded, "After the headmage collapsed, the one who was there to pick him up was his son. His initial plan was to use this chance to allow his son to create a brotherly bond with Rollo who had just experienced a tragedy. This tragedy was the root cause of last night's incident. However, after his father collapsed, his son went from one hospital to the next. Yet, due to his father's complex health, all the doctors have rejected him."

"What?!" Deuce jumped in disbelief, "There's a man dying and they refuse to even try to treat him?!"

Peony nodded, "We suspect there was a scheme going on back then, so the mayor is looking into the matter right now. However, out of desperation, his son sought a traveling healer who managed to keep his father alive with a magic artifact. However, to pay for this treatment, his son had to sell their home and belongings. To shelter his father, he placed him in the most secure and trustworthy place known to him. He brought his father to a secret room in the bell tower."

"Huh? How does he know about the secret-..." Azul frowned as it dawned on him, "The-!"

Peony placed a finger against her lips and smirked much to their confusion and shock.

"So, that's why you were looking through documents in the city hall." Trein scowled.

She nodded, "Don't worry. Those people will have a harder time harming the students regardless of their backgrounds. For my master and the students, they no longer have the ability to help. In fact..."

She smirked, "Did it ever crossed your mind how Rollo got his hands on seeds of an extinct plant?"

"Don't tell me someone who wanted to destroy this school completely both physically and socially then set Rollo up." Azul sighed, "And Rollo, being driven by his own emotions took the seeds to crack his own plans."

Peony nodded, "Quite stupid of him, but the guy who provided the seeds to him wasn't any smarter. You don't have to worry about the schemers. They're going to come and confess their crimes later. They won't be getting in contact with Rollo until the trial."

"Won't they come for him after the trial?" Azul frowned.

"What's going on?" Deuce pondered in confusion.

Epel shook his head, "I don't quite understand either."

"It won't be necessary." She smiled again, "Besides, everything will be taken care of neatly in the end."

Ruggie grumbled, "This lady is terrifying..."

She sighed, "Anyway, my teacher has already written his will."

 "He's stepping down?!"

She nodded, "He's going to step down. It's very likely that they will send someone to act as headmage and judge until Rollo comes of age."

"Rollo is going to become the next headmage?!" Sebek exclaimed in disbelief.

"Who knows really." She shrugged, "They may just pick one from their students or relatives. The rules are such here."

"Wow..." Epel marveled in awe, "Then, wouldn't they also include yours?"

"Nah. I already told them, I have no interest in it." She scowled, "Or would you like to have these two kind-hearted dorm leaders take my place in the royal castle?"

"Srsly..." Idia smirked, "You really walked right into this one..."

"As much as we would be honored for such a position, I'm afraid we're still to inexperienced to take on such important tasks." Azul quickly replied.

"Oh? That's quite unfortunate." She smirked, "Then, I guess I'll have to send a request for an intern to help me with the documents in the next two years."

They were taken aback as Peony smiled, "Did you really think I had not been looking for interns? However, Rook is correct. My teacher was not powerful enough to be admitted to Night Raven College, but he was never interested in the power of magic to begin with. He has too much love and kindness for the people to learn anything but law. However, he was interested in the magic to protect. Thus, when he arrived in the fairy kingdom, he often used his magic to protect the weak and imprison the bad or so my parents like to describe him as. However, it is true that that he is well-known for his magic barriers. All kinds in fact. That was his way of protecting the people in this city and the children. In fact, you could say his passion towards caring for the children and their education was what got him into this role in the first place. Unfortunately, I often worry when the case involves the children being the one who committed the crime. Though rare, there are cases where children are misguided and commits the crime. I believe my teacher once told me that his first case was one where a child took the life of another person. That got him to take education more seriously and got involved with children health programs. So, my teacher actually has a wide network. Yet, his son..."

"He had yet to know the full extent of this network and nearly lost his father." Trein sighed.

"Yes. Quite unfortunate. I can only chalk this incident up as a tragedy for all sides." She sighed, "Still, that certainly did not keep him from risking his life to come here instead."

Hearing this, Ruggie grumbled, "Wait, clarify it to us more clearly."

"The president was trying to keep him from running out of the tower and express his gratitude. You not only saved the school and city, but also his students and the people." She responded, "To him, the city's disappearance wouldn't matter because it's the people of this city that makes up the city. Without them, this place may just become a ghost town and the children may suffer. Thus, he granted you so much rewards."

 Riddle frowned, "However, his son-"

Peony grumbled in disdain, "Leave him to me. They already dropped the case in my lap, didn't they? Since they want an unbiased trial, I'll give an unbias trial. However, an unbias trial needs to be fear. Thus, Rollo requires a case carrier and both will need a lawyer."

"However, the people in the city hall..." Trein hesitated.

"What? What happened to the city hall?" Riddle raised a brow in confusion.

Trein hesitated yet Peony sighed, "To put it lightly, before the celebration began, the city hall was attacked by foreigners, a group of... nomads. I was dispatched to clean up this mess and bring the culprits in by the president."

Shocked, Silver frowned in alarm, "Is everyone all right?"

"The lower officials are unharmed and did not noticed it because it was dealt with quietly, but the mayor was the only one we rescued. We're going to have to report this to the people, but say that the attack happened before the celebration."

"What's going to happen to the city?" Trein hesitated with a look of concern.

"The council of magic will take care of it." Peony replied, "No doubt this situation will cast a shadow of doubt on the city hall. The mayor is preparing his resignation and going to a rehabilitation center. Technically, we've already rehabilitated him, but sending him to a rehabilitation center would make it look less suspicious. It would be weird if I told them we sent him to some sort of time altering space to rehabilitate, right?"

"So, that's what you did." Trein sighed.

"You know about this?" Silver looked to him in surprise.

"Yes." he nodded, "I've also been chosen to act as the case carrier this time. So, I will have to return as soon as I send you all back to school."

"I've notified Malleus about everything beforehand." Peony explained, "If necessary, he can help the professor explain everything to headmage later. That being said, I've already prepared the election for the role of mayor. So, like I said, just leave the rest to me. Or, I guess you want to be involved in this matter?"

"No way!" Grim grumbled, "I like the cheering, but I don't want to be on the receiving end of some pity party!"

"By now, this has become someone else's personal matter. We should stay out of it." Riddle agreed.

"FR. For once, we actually agreed on something..." Idia exclaimed, "I want to live my life as worry free as possible!"

"Whatever." Sebek exclaimed, "Right now, the most important thing is finding Malleus!"

"Him?" She raised a brow and pointed over to the distance, "He's dancing with Rollo right now."

 "Huh?!"
