Chapter 72 - SHAWNEY RETURN TO THE VILLAGE

Seeing Dad took the phone, and dialled the number, then waited, and when he slammed the phone down.

Carl became a bit worried, "Dad, what is wrong?" But he didn't answer, then dialled again, hearing the person say, "She already collected the package." Train, slump down right there on the floor.

Hearing Carl's concern, Train was hoping Torren would come out of his silent mode and come to his assistance.

When Train saw him just sitting there. Careen came and sat with him, but Carl was panicking. Hearing him say, "Will someone just call the ambulance, and please call Dad Doctor now?"

Train thought, 'I have never felt so hopeless as now. He was making such progress, now I don't know what's going to happen.'

Train, felt so weak and drained, as though all his energy had run out, having no more courage or strength to fight this battle any longer.

When the phone rang, Careen went and answered, saying, "Hello, I am sorry, but he is in no condition to answer."

But then the person said to take it to him. Careen felt it was strange, but did as the person asked. He was about to shove it aside, then he held back and replied.

It was strange, but there was a sudden calmness as he kept nodding, and now and again he said:

"Yes or no," Train kept looking around, seeing Jeff just standing there, hearing Lasandra saying to Jeff, "To go and help."

But he stood still, saying, "They already called the Doctor and ambulance, what do you want me to do?"

My thought at that moment was, 'What has become of my family? Is it every man for himself?

The only three people who seem to care are Carl, Careen, and Lasandra. Travis, Candis, and Jeff just stood there observing as outsiders.

Feeling his heart paining, it was so full of disappointment, as though it was shattering into pieces, as darkness seemed to overshadow him.

Closing his eyes when Careen holds his hand, and resting it on her stomach, feeling the baby move, Train opens his eyes and whispers a word of prayer.

'Lord, I have so much to live for, but I had hope that Shawney would accept my proposal and marry Torren. I hope this won't be a setback in his treatment, whatever is happening, I still trust that You, My Lord, will see me through.'

'Train watch Torren just get off the floor and went to his room as Careen whispers only for my ear. "Dad, I can't believe he is so calm. Only one person could bring about that reaction from him so quickly."

"Who did he speak with, child?" Train asks in just a whisper.

Hearing Careen whisper, "The person didn't say his name."

"Are you saying it was a man who spoke with him?"

"Dad, a man spoke to me!"

"Could it be the Doctor?" Train queries.

"Dad, how could it? The doctor can't know he will misbehave, Dad only Shawney would suspect he will, when he realised she wasn't there?"

"You are right, but you said it's a man who spoke with you."

"Well, she could ask someone, so no one will suspect it's her, and when Torren had the phone, she could have spoken to him?"

"True child, but whoever spoke with him was a God-sent, I just thank God."

When Carl said, "So, were you faking that you were unwell?"

"I had to try something, son, but I see it didn't work. If you don't mind, I will need some help to get to my room."

"Dad, what is it?" Carl asks.

Not wanting to scare him, Train said, "I just feel tired, my son. I didn't get any sleep, but I will be fine after I take some rest. Son, I must thank you for being concerned. Today I see the true colours of my children and know what to expect."

Holding his hand, Carl helped him to his room. When the Doctor came, Carl took him to see Dad.

Returning downstairs, Careen was sitting by the phone. "Honey, is something bothering you?"

"I felt like Dad today. I know he didn't faint, but my body felt drained. Carl, for a few minutes, I lost all hope of Torren getting better. I do understand how Dad felt."

"Sweetheart, I know you made him happy by allowing him to feel our baby, thank you. I saw hope in his eyes. Now go and check on the children while I cancel the ambulance."

"I did it already," Careen said, "Now let us check on the children. I thank God, Liz moves quickly when I signal her to take the children to the playroom.

"Honey, Dad told me that Shawney left town, but I believe we should see to find her; she makes Torren happy."

"She does, but no one drives her out; she left of her own free will, and if she feels anything for Torren, then she will return. All we have to do is keep praying for them."

Seeing that the children were comfortable, we left Liz with them. "Come on, let us see what Louis prepared for breakfast. I am starving," Carl said.

Reaching the lawyer's office in her village. Shawney explained exactly what she wanted him to do. Then went into town and searched out a jeweller who was willing to purchase all her jewels.

Making copies of all the receipts and taking a photo of each piece of jewellery, before placing them in the jeweller's hands.

"Why are you selling your jewels?" The jeweller asks, "These are unique pieces, they don't make them like these anymore."

"I need some fast cash."
