Chapter 4 - Cave 3

He took off after her with renewed vigour.

~ There he goes. Don't mind that he just got humiliated. Oh well we can't just let him get kicked around can we. Rogue winked and took off after the big man. Knight looked around and flared his eyes with that familiar blue light one more time.

~ Clear light, solid stone, dark night, Grant me vision. His eyes changed in a flash. The stone walls were but translucent mist. Goliath was turning corner's with terrible speed. A shadow was following him at an even more ridiculous speed, Rogue was starting to enter his element. He started jogging in a diffrent direction than his friends. While they did draw the eye, there was a flickering that kept avoiding his gaze. He moved to intercept it with the hopes of it being Hendora.

Goliath turned the corner to find Knight standing with his shield up and his sword ready. A fluid dripped of the tip of his sword. It seemed he had gotten attacked just a moment ago. Something moved behind him, he could feel it. Goliath attacked backwards. One swing, two, three and a final fourth. Rogue had attacked Hendora while she jumped of Knight's shield. He'd been forced to use his mistwalker trait as to not let her escape. Goliath had run past them but realized that they were fighting behind him through instinct. His axe hit Hendora badly with the first three hits. The fourth hit Rogue straight in side and sent him flying. Having to dodge Hendora's attacks were hard enough without ducking beneath Goliath's axe. All one needed was one second of distraction. That moment happened to Rogue on Goliath's fourth swing of his axe. Hendora had for a split second turned into a beautiful elf with long blonde hair. For that split moment in time Rogue had an idea on how to either reverse the curse she had on her or at the very least make her sane ones more. Now in a puddle of his own blood slowly losing consciousness he saw Hendora as she had ones was. A half elf namned Endorsi by her fellow elves and Helena by her fellow humans. Beautiful and kind. A pure heart yet untouched by darkness. He turned his head to the side and saw her laying next to him. Her life leaving her aswell. She held his hand sharing her memories. Her face calm and relaxed, happy even.

The warm rays of the sun hit her skin one's again. She smiled as the smell of grass reached her for the first time in what felt like a millennium. A bird landed on the ground next to her and started singing a beautiful melody. Rogue walked up to her and sat down next to a big rock all whilst copying the tune. She spoke in a imperial dialect. Her voice soft as to not scare away the local wildlife. She told him of the shapechanger she had met in the forrest, the one who spoke with the animals and plants. He'd looked like a bear but spoken like any nobleman she'd ever met. They'd become great friends over the years. A single tear dropped down her cheek as she spoke of the times when she could feel anything that wasn't hunger or hatred. Rogue never said a word, neither did he have to. She knew that her life was coming to an end. She spoke for what seemed like days. Reminiscing of her past experiences and all the joys she'd felt. She sat up as a rabbit came out of the nearby brush. Raising her hand towards the sky she painted an elogant picture for anyone watching. The maiden surrounded by the pure animals of the forrest, calm, collected, beautiful and finally at peace. Rogue opened his eyes to the busy sound of a town. Knight was sitting on a chair next to him reading a bunch of letters. Goliath was nowhere to be seen.

~ Four and a half day in bed two days travelling. Knight said sounding unbothered. He smiled as he put the letters on the nightstand next to the bed and moved towards the door.

~ Good to have you back. He said with his back turned towards him.

~ Goliath has been worried sick that he might have killed you. Every doctor in town has been dragged, pushed or flung over a shoulder just to make sure you would get the best treatment possible. There's a few letter's you should read when you feel up for it. Oh, before I forget. You mumbled a few namnes in your sleep. Just thought you might wanna know about that. Anyways, I'm gonna go check out the nearest tavern. Don't get up until you feel better. He left without waiting for a response. Rogue laid staring at the ceiling for quite some time before he got up and found some paper to start writing a letter of his own.

"Dear Loraison of the northen forrest." The letter started.

The end.

Thanks for reading this short story that's been stuck in my mind for a while. Deeply sorry about the lack of uploads but work takes most of my time and energy. I hope however to put out some more stuff soon enough since I have plenty of stuff that I can't find a place for in the story i'm writing. But yet again thanks for reading and have a good one!
