This was the second planet he had visited in search of a mentor. The few people that trusted that he wouldn't read their mind were nice enough to point him to a few promising individuals. The first two of these individuals he had talked to wanted rid of him as soon as they laid eyes upon him.
~I've got high hopes for this one. He said to his little white light that floated near his head. Even though the light wasn't sentient and alive in the the same way as himself, he enjoyed talking to it nontheless. Few understood how one inbued the cosmic energy of stars into armor or weapons. And so far none understood what the extent of life really was. Chances were that his little light was sentient. Therfore one should treat it with the same respect any other living being deserved. He was to go to a warehouse district and ask to see Sketch. Now if this Sketch was yet another middleman or a possible mentor never got cleared by the informant. He had planned to leave this one for last but the ship he had paid to take him to the next planet had stopped here for refueling. The captain had given him a full days time to wander around. It seemed a lost oppurtunity at first to simply not talk to this individual. The closer he got to the location the more certain he grew that he would not only learn something useful but that he would get a bit closer to what he was searching for.
The area was a maze of containers and diffrent houses made for storage. A huge electric fence was set up to keep out unwanted visitors. The guard at the front had told him that there was a girl and her crew currently working on their ship roughly ten minutes away by foot. The name wasn't correct but it was a start. Oreus walked for what felt like ten minutes, he didn't know exactly since his watch had been stolen on the latest planet he'd been on. The houses and containers never came on regular intervalls. It felt random. Two containers a building, three buildings a container. Sooner or later this place would crumble and leave way for something new. He looked at the white light that swirrled around him. Such beauty. The power of the cosmos. With this light he could either draw upon the power of stars or the vastness of blackholes. It was a gift he didn't feel like he deserved. Before he could think more on the matter the row of containers stopped. Before him was a area so expansive you'd think the entire planet was a mixture if containers, storage units and this. More ships than one could count. Most rundown and ready to be scrapped for parts. He stood there awestruck thinking of picking apart ships and building his own. A dream he couldn't fullfill, not yet atleast. A bit further away a young Elven girl stood shouting at her crewmates. Their ship seemed functional but not perfect. It looked as if they'd been attacked and by something big. He moved towards the group without rushing or slowing. Everything in the universe had It'd time and place. There was no reason to rush even if the body wanted to. Shimmer saw him approach and ordered her men to keep fixing the damage on the ship while she figured out whatever this newcomer wanted. She stopped roughly five feet away. Close enough for a halfblind man to hit with a gun and close enough to attack with a melee weapon if one was fast enough.
~ What do you want Lashunta? I've already paid the company for use of whatever scraps I can get my hands on. She smiled. It was clear that she knew he wasn't from the company owning this place. Her fingers were constantly playing with the top of her gun as she talked.
~ Hi, I'm looking for a person namned Sketch. I was suppouse...
She drew her plasma pistol with unprecedented speed. Oreus took a step as his light quickly turned into a medival longsword of pure white. The tip was pointing right at her throat. They were at a sort of roadblock. Neither did nor said anything. They simply studied eachother for a minute before Oreus dropped the energy. If she wanted him dead he'd be dead. And he had this certain ability that seemed to spark when something was beyound him in power. It was a useful thing to have, especially When one was trying another person out. Nothing had sparked it so that meant she wasn't going to try and kill him.
~ Nice reflexes. She said as she put her gun back.
~ You too. That gun is beautiful by the way. It somehow felt special. He just couldn't figure out why. I'm sorry if i offended you, it was not my intention. Shimmer had gotten this wierd look in her eyes as he mentioned the gun.
~ Thanks. Anyways, I'm Shimmer. And i can get you a meeting with Sketch but first you meet the crew. He nodded and of they went.
~ What do you want with Sketch anyways? You got a job for him or?
~ I'm looking for certain individuals. I'd rather not say more. I think this Sketch can help me find them, or in the very least point me in the right direction. The crew was as varied in personalities as it was in species. Apart from Shimmer they all were open and friendly from the start. Within minutes he was helping them carrying crates and helping the mechanic. Shimmer had left without him noticing. The information he'd gain from the crew was that Sketch was a warmhearted guy if he called you friend. Coldblooded murderer if you were his enemy. When asked about Shimmer most of the crew had simply described what she looked like and then gone "She's not my favorite but she get's the job done"
Shimmer returned after two hours with a smile on her lips.
~ Sketch has agreed to meet with you on one condition.
~ Anything.
~ Eager i like it. We have a spot open in the crew and we got a job that require the full team. So you join us in this mission and Sketch will reward you with a meeting aswell as payment.
