Of all the pivotal events that ushered in THE First Age of Infinity, none proved more consequential than a conversation between a young one and an old one in the twilight reaches of Alfheimr.
What followed was inevitable. Chaos, in its pride, went forth to confront Unity.
From that confrontation, an unfathomable darkness bloomed. It spread across Observable Existence with weight that made THE Infinite Unfurling seem a gentle awakening.
But darkness, no matter how unfathomable, exists only to give way to brilliance.
And the brilliance that emerged from those depths exceeded anything that came before. It had to. For that is the nature of Adversity. That is the purpose of struggle. That is why the young one allowed the old one to walk toward a fate that could have been avoided.

Some brilliance cannot emerge without darkness to precede it.
