Chapter 28 - Creeping around

Over the next few days Li Hua stayed at the hospital and "recovered". She still needed to be careful about her ankle or she could end back up in the hospital. Finally she was able to go home and leave.

The smell of the hospital had started to mess with her nose and it was always too bright.

She gathered her things and made her way to the apartment. Su LingTian told her that she would live with him for the time being so she began packing her bag.

She let out a sigh of relief. She really had no idea what she was going to do had he not shown up. She would've been kicked out the hotel and on the streets.

The idea made her feel sick.

She finished packing when she heard a knock on the door. Opening it, outside was a well put together man. Obviously one of Su LingTian's people.

"Hello, I'm Assistant Jiang. Are you Ms. Li?"

"Yes I am."

"Well I'm here to pick you up. Please hand me your bags and we can be on our way."

They walked out of the hotel and onto the Main Street. Parked was a very nice car, looking at the model it seemed to be some sort of BMW.

She put her things in the trunk and got in the backseat.

As they drove she put her earphones in and quietly listened to music. She really enjoyed the artist Kim Sung's music. Especially the story behind her rise to stardom.

While she was in the back, Assistant Jiang sneaked glances at her from time to time. When Mr. Su asked him to investigate her he only saw pictures and recordings of her. From the pictures he thought she was an alright looking girl. He had no idea why Mr. Su would be so enamored with her.

However seeing her in person was a different story. The camera truly didn't do her justice. She was quite the beauty but it wasn't just her looks that made her attractive. She had this air around her that just pulled people. No wonder Su LingTian was single.

About an hour later they arrived at the Jade Pavilion. Looking out the window, she almost felt her eyes pop out. The Jade Pavilion was one of the rich gated communities of the city. Like the super rich. Every home was like a mansion and in order to own a home there you had to at least make 7 figures.

Even her own family couldn't afford a place like that. Thinking about the looks on their faces if they knew almost made her break out into laughter.

Once inside they drove past the different houses they pulled into the driveway. The house was gigantic.

It was very modern and well kept. There were flower beds along the pathway. She stopped to look at the flowers. They seemed familiar but she couldn't quite place it.

Inside the house, the same could be said. The furniture was very cool with grays and dark blues. Obviously a mans home. There were multiple rooms too some she doubted he didn't even use.

She turned to Assistant Jiang.

"Has he lived with anyone here?"

Assistant Jiang raised his eyebrow.

"Not that I know of."

Li Hua looked around.

"What a lonely man. All of this but no one to spend it with."

At this rate they probably wouldn't even see each other very often, the house was just too big!

Assistant Jiang wanted to disagree but it was the truth. Countless of times Su LingTian would just walk around the house like a ghost. His days consisted of work, eat, sleep, work. Seeing this Assistant Jiang realized you could have all the money in the world and still be alone.

He looked at Li Hua and smiled.

"Well I guess that's about to change then."

Hearing that Li Hua's heart shook. She wasn't supposed to be his magical cure or his forever partner. She was only here for business. That was all.

She smiled back. "Yes I'm sure he'll find someone worth spending time with one day."

Assistant Jiang's smile fell and he stared at her. He wouldn't find anyone because only she occupied his mind. However he wouldn't tell her that of course. He already let his mouth slip once.

'These people are so dense.'

Assistant Jiang straightened up and led her to her room. The room was on the second floor and was pretty bland. She pulled her bag inside and plopped on the bed.

Feeling the soft cushion on her body she wanted to cry. The hotel bed was hard and made her back hurt. She wouldn't lie and say she was conditioned to live a more comfortable life.

The bed was so soft she didn't feel like getting up. The doctor did tell her to stay off her ankle so one little nap wouldn't hurt, right? Her eyelids became heavy and she drifted off into sleep.

A few hours later

Su LingTian pulled into the driveway. He knew she would be there but he was still nervous. 'What had she been doing all day?'

He opened the door and looked around. She wasn't in any of the front rooms.

Seeing him looking around a maid said, "If your looking for Ms. Li she's been asleep all day in the bedroom upstairs."

"Ah ok." He looked up the stairs. Well if she was asleep he didn't want to bother her. He looked towards the maid again,

"Has she eaten anything?"

"Not that I know of"

"Well have the chef prepare dinner."

He grabbed his things and made his way towards his study. He may have gotten off work but he still had things to handle outside the office.

Li Hua was still asleep when the smell of food drifted into her nose. Slowly, she woke up. Sitting up she smelled the air a few more times, someone was definitely cooking!

She got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen. She was still half asleep but when she opened the door she felt a jolt of energy flood her body.

As she walking in she overlooked the food. Her eyes were wide and she felt like she was about to drool. It looked so good!

She quickly found a plate and began to eat. It was enough food here for a family of 5! If she was eating like this regularly then she felt like she scored a good deal!

Su LingTian had just finished his paperwork and was about to go to bed when he heard a noise in the kitchen.

'Look who woke up.'

Peaking in made him want to laugh and cry at the same time. Li Hua looked so tiny compared to her plate. She really liked food huh? It reminded him of back then. All cold on the outside but a kid on the inside.

He inwardly smiled and walked back upstairs.

Li Hua had a full on feast. She may have loved piano but food was definitely her second love.

When she finished she sat had to build the energy up for her to walk back upstairs. She had ate a little too much that she could barely move!

When she finally made it back to her room she plopped down on the bed.

"I could get used to this" she smiled to herself.

Sitting in silence she began to think about the deal. Pretend to be a couple with Su LingTian? The idea in itself was something you'd see on a drama. What had she signed herself up for?!

She put a pillow over her face and huffed. Pulling it away, she looked at the ceiling. What kind of person would agree to something like this! An idiot of course.

She was probably the biggest idiot too. She knew deep down that she wouldn't have agreed had it been anyone else but him.

He'd hurt her and no matter how much she wanted look past it and move on she couldn't. How hard would it have been to just say no?

She laughed a little. Life was funny that way. Years of silence and now they were living together. How ridiculous.

She just had to get in and get out. A couple of months wasn't that long, right? She'd do her part and he'd do his. Returning to America seemed to become get closer.
