Chapter 4 - Skipped A Beat

This continued on for a few weeks. Everyday when she arrived at the garden he would already be there. At first she was annoyed but eventually she didn't mind it. They didn't talk very much but the occasional banter was quite alright.

One day she walked into the garden but he wasn't there and suddenly a hint of disappointment washed over her. 'Oh...'

She walked over to her bench and took out her book. She didn't know why she felt that way, honestly it was good he wasn't here, no more distractions for her.

She had began reading when the door burst open. At the door was Su LingTian. He was huffing and puffing, clearly he had ran here. Seeing her there he let out a sigh of relief and quickly walked over to her.

He sat down beside her and gave her that same cheeky smile.

"Did you run here?"

"I forgot something."

"What could possibly be so important?"

"This." He pulled out something from his bag.

'Fantasy Is The Tears of Reality?!?!'

He had actually bought the book? Li Hua looked at the him in bewilderment.

"Why do you have this?" She looked at him with an eyebrow raised.

"Well you seemed so interested in it so I thought I might give it a read."

"But didn't you say that you found her books childish?"

The other day he criticized her for reading these 'childish' books but here he was with his own. What a hypocrite!?

"Well opinions change."

Reminding her of what happened the other day, her face turned pink. Seeing her expression he smiled and continued.

"Anyways, I thought I'd give it a try. Turns out this book is pretty interesting, it's a bit more depressing than her previous work."

Hearing this Li Hua got excited. No one else was reading this book and even if there were she had no friends. She had so many thoughts about the story but no one to tell them to.

"Really! I feel the same way. Look at the main character, She has such a sad life at home but when she goes through this door she's in this alternate reality-"

Seeing her so enthusiastic, Su LingTian realized he had never seen this side of her. She was always so cold and stone faced. It was quite refreshing. There was more to her then just the ice queen she paraded around as. While he was in thought, Li Hua didn't even notice he wasn't paying attention. She just continued to babble on.

"Everyone who had ever been mean or rude to her was the exact opposite. It was everything she ever dreamed of-"

"However, she realizes that the whole thing is merely a charade. None of it is real and her life will never be like that." He finished.

Hearing this, Li Hua let out a slight laugh. "Kinda reminds me of my own life."

She had spoken so low that he almost hadn't heard her. He was going to ask her what she meant but it was obvious she was uncomfortable.

Feeling the mood tense he nonchalantly said " Well who says that her life won't change. She knows what the issue is she just has to get rid of it."

Hearing this she looked up at him. Earlier she had spoken without thinking. She had learned from a young age not to let her emotions get the better of her as they would only give her a weakness. She was relieved as It seemed like he didn't hear her but as she was about to change the subject he suddenly spoke.

He may have been talking about the character in the book but it felt like he was talking to her.

He turned to look at her and their eyes locked.

Nervously she asked, "Well maybe but don't you think it would be hard. That world was all she ever knew?"

He looked away and said "There's a whole world out there, surely she hasn't seen it all."

He was looking towards the flower bushes and the birds that flew around them. They all seemed so free to do whatever they pleased, why shouldn't they?

Suddenly, He glanced down at his watch and frowned. He stood up and looked towards the door

"Its time to go now."

"Oh."

She was about to stand up when she noticed he had stretched his hand out to her. The golden light of the sun had shone on his face and the wind blew his hair slightly. He had that same sly smile on his face. The whole thing was like a scene from some drama.

"Well are you coming?"

She quickly grabbed his hand and he pulled her up.

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow." He smiled.

"See you tomorrow."

He turned around and walked out the garden. Seeing his retreating back, she felt her heart skip a beat.

'Oh goodness…'
