Mei Ling just gave up. She will keep her own name silently and use this one as it seems it is more convenient now. Strangely many foreigners had Asian names here. It seems quite common.
''So Mei Ling. You will do the task together with your team leader. It is to find rare species of silver fur rabbits with purple paws. You must catch it alive. We do not accept the task done if you kill it. Understood?'' The man on quest assignment wrote her name in their group.
She nodded and blinked few times at him innocently making him soften his voice. "Your team is fine and task is just medium. No worries. No real danger. As long you don't enter Dark Woods you'll be fine. OK?"
Noak stood behind her like a wall and no one could see or hear what they spoke. He could feel her curious gaze but just winked at her. "Come with me. I will bring you to others." Then he turned his eyes towards Na'an and smiled. "Your sister is safe with us. After we are done with quest, we will bring her to your home. Please tell your mother not to worry."
Na'an was actually interested as well but knew he could do for a moment no tasks. Children are forbidden to go questing. So all he could do is accept the fact.
But before leaving Me Ling called him one more time. "Little brother... Take these stones back to mother. I fear to loose them in forest and that makes no sense anyway." She stuffed the small bag with stones into his shirt and patted his behind making him get red up to tip of his ears.
'Sister, I am already big, don't pat my back like I'm some small child!" He pouted a bit and then turned to run away as he saw her coming with evil smile and hand in air. When he was far enough he turned his head and saw her smiling at h and waving her hand.
"Tell mother I will be home for dinner.'' Then she remembered and looked at Noak that just nodded and laughed. She was relieved that she didn't promise an impossible thing. She could see Na'an sprinting away and with a sigh she turned her eyes towards Noak. " Let's go then."
As they walked towards the other end of the big busy hall she could see all kind of strange grupations cheering as they found new members. In her curiosity she asked. "Now that you will teach me many things can I start asking?"
Noak chuckled. "Sure ask."
"Is it so hard to find partners for group?" She could see groups still waiting around.
First he got silent and slowed his steps. "Its about the tasks. Some people look down on small tasks. They feel they are to good for it. You can see many just standing bored around. By the time they waited, they could have done at least three or for small tasks. But like I said. People look down on those. What mistake. Our group doing small and medium tasks now for years."
She blinked at him. "Why? You seem strong?"
He shook his head. "When my parents died he left seven siblings for me to care about. If I do dangerous tasks and die who will watch over them? I prefer to do ten or twenty low and medium quests then one big one. Not worth it."
His words stunned her. "How is that possible?"
He just shrugged. "To dangerous. And too many people in the group that have to share. The only good thing on those quest is rate treasures. Those rare treasures would be usually taken by leaders and distributed at their will. Usually unfairly. So on the end what's the point."
She went silent for a while. "What about trackers? Why everyone wants them?"
"Trackers are sought over in whole world as they can track at first just beings but later on even rare treasures could be seen by them as well." He smiled at her and patted her head. "My sister is tracker now of third order and still can't see rate treasures. So you probably have long way to go."
"So what order am I and how many ate they?" Of course she wanted to know more.
"You are basic order. After you finish first task from the quest stone you get certain powers and you will rise to fist order. But for second order you need hundred more stronger power, for third thousand and do on. There is bronze, silver, gold, white, red, blue purple and black level. I heard only one man before successfully became black. But at that time he became young again and became immortal. Who knows are those stories truth or lies. Every level has ten orders. So its quite impossible task if you may ask me."
She nodded. How many quests and tasks did that person do in his lifetime. Isn't it too much. Immortality was of no importance to her. Just living comfortably from now on.
"Just one more question. How do I find that rabbit? Explain." She could see about ten people standing up from ground as they saw Noak approaching and knew she needed to ask that.
"Its quite simple. It leaves purple trail." He was about to speak more when he suddenly realized that she stopped. "What is it?"
She nibbled on her underlip for a couple moments and the gave him strange stare. "How far are we going?"
He pointed at opposite direction of the forest she came from. "In the Forest of Green Shadows. Those things are rare. Why?"
People saw them talking and came closer to hear a strange thing. "Noak, will you belive me if I say I saw purple tracks near the city. You know the nearby forest?"
Noak's eyes almost popped out its sockets as he stared at her. "That would be... to lucky. We can try."
The others just shrugged. All they could do is anyway just help later on. So they just tagged along with huge smile. If they catch the rabbit good if not then no loss.
