Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Execution

Zane started to receive a little bit of Marco's memories.

Marco is the third son of Adelard and Noelle Corvin. Adelard is the patriarch of the Corvin clan. He has two brothers: Canas, the oldest, is 22 years old, and Balen, the second son, is 20. He also has three sisters: the eldest, Celri, is 21; the second daughter, Lildra, is 17; and the third and youngest, Firus, is 16.

Since he was a child, he was loved by his parents and the entire clan. Adelard was a genius in the clan from his own childhood, and he was now a mid-level Mage Lord. After using a "stone checker" to test the talents of Canas, Balen, and Celri, it showed they all had a high level of talent. Everyone expected Adelard's children to be peerless geniuses, so Marco had a good childhood.

Time passed, and now only one hour was left before the chakra network connected to his body and the remaining memories could enter his brain. With a happy face, Zane said, "Aah, am I finally going to have a family who will love me? Am I finally going to say the words 'father' and 'mother'? Is this a gift? Thank you!"

Suddenly, the door, which no one could notice because of the darkness, opened. Seven figures entered the room: a middle-aged man and woman in front, and two young men and three young women behind them.

Zane was filled with complicated emotions and thought to himself:

'Is this Marco's family?' 'No, they are my family!'

With a happy face and tears streaming down his cheeks, Zane ran toward his parents to hug them. "Father, Mother!"

But reality was too cruel. As soon as he approached, he felt a sharp pain in his chest and was sent flying backward, spitting a mouthful of blood. It seemed someone had hit him.

"Don't call me that, you disgraceful child."

His father, with an angry face, had hit his son both physically and mentally. Zane didn't know what had happened or why his father had hit him and called him disgraceful. He started scanning the faces of his family, only to find his parents with shameful and angry expressions, and his two brothers and two sisters with mocking faces and evil smiles. Only one little girl, who seemed to be the youngest, had a red face and tears streaming from her eyes.

"Do you admit your sin?" His father asked him in a harsh voice, as if he were questioning a thief or a murderer.

Zane, with a puzzled expression, didn't know what was going on. "Father... admit what? I don't know what you're talking about!"

Adelard released a high pressure from his body toward Zane, as if he wanted to crush a mortal enemy.

"Are you still trying to hide it? WHERE is it?"

After that, a mocking voice spoke. "Aiya, little brother, we all know that you hid the dragon jade of our clan. It's better to tell us where it is. Of course, you'll be kicked out of the clan as a punishment. Otherwise, you'll be executed."

It was his second brother, Balen, who spoke with an evil smile.

Zane didn't know what to do. He felt a pain in his chest, touched it, and was shocked to find that only bones remained with a little trace of flesh. It looked like someone had almost starved him to death.

A cold and harsh voice spoke. "Either you tell us where the dragon jade is, or you can starve here again. How much time do you think your mortal body will hold before your execution?" His mother was the one who spoke this time.

It seemed the memories he had received from Marco were all wrong. No one in this family really loved him. Zane, with a red face, thought, 'Why does it look like they all want me to be executed? It's like they want to wash a black spot from a white robe.'

Adelard spoke again. "Since torture won't work, then execution it is." Adelard walked to the door and said to his eldest son, "Canas, go tell everyone in the clan. We will execute Marco in 30 minutes. Everyone should be there to witness the result of stealing from our clan."

With a smile, Canas replied, "Yes, Father."

After their parents left, the two brothers and two sisters looked at him, let out a cold laugh, and then left. Only the youngest girl, Firus, stayed. She looked at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Sob, sob... Don't worry, brother. Everything will be okay."

Then she turned her head, grabbed a green jade from her pocket, crushed it, and left.

Zane didn't know what to do. His face was pale. 'Am I going to die?'
