Chapter 4 - Cycle [part II]

Seven days of travel. Cold, rain, wind. Silence permeated the empty roads. It was as if nature itself was paving the way for the chosen one. The only things that broke the silence were the clopping and neighing of the horse, her only companion, and animals that occasionally appeared. And finally, the 'temple', which was more like a damp and dreary cave, hidden in the midst of the forest, was found.

No golden columns or heavenly hymns. Just cold and silent rocks.

Could this be the right place? Or is fate, once again, playing with your expectations? Reviewing the references incessantly, there was no doubt that this was the location.

With a lantern in hand, he entered. In this limited space, each step echoed far. But then, a sound... footsteps of another person?

"Who's there?"

"I can ask the same… Who would walk into a place like this, alone, little girl?"

Eighteen asked, wielding a broad sword in his hand. A hoarse and dragged voice answered him. A deformed silhouette slithered behind the rocks, hidden in the darkness. Growing, watching, approaching, without revealing itself.

"It's you? Hihihihi… Master said wouldn't be long. 5 springs? So fast... What Master will give to me when I kill you?"

A thin, skeletal hand, black as a burned branch, reached out to her.

In reaction, the girl attacked.

Nothing. The sword didn't even cause a scratch. The narrow space also hindered your mobility.

Cold, which used to come from the wind, now originated from within. Her legs gave way for a moment, her chest was heaving, and the sword had never seemed so heavy. She didn't know what to call this, she only understood that she wanted to run away from there immediately. But she didn't.

"Yummy… this emotion… Lucky. Will be fun."

Even in this situation, hope still shone stubbornly, although fragile.

She will not run.

Destiny was waiting for you just ahead... would not give up here.

Running into the depths of the cave, Eighteen planned to outsmart the monster. Since she had memorized the entire maze and the traps within it, she could use that knowledge to reach Bloodstain. If the girl could get her hands on the Holy Sword, would have a chance. Perhaps, her only chance.

The maze, besides being complex, was full of traps to keep raiders and monsters away. Only with the map was it possible to escape and reach the chamber.

Following the path without looking back or resting, she ran until her legs could bear no more. Upon reaching a fork, the young and inexperienced girl stopped and looked to see if she was being followed. No sign of the monster. However, a bad feeling still lingered over her.
