600 years ago, human-kind perished.
Prior to the age known as the Era of Death, mankind entered the world sheathed in vessels of flesh and blood.
Until this granted privilege was revoked.
On January 17th, 2054, human eyes dimmed to grey.
Beneath the gaze of every other creature on Earth, the soul abandoned its flesh—unwilling, yet inevitable.
Fear bloomed in every heart, and rightly so.
For in the wake of rejection came the dawn of the Era of Death.
Deprived of vessels, humanity lost its tether to the physical world.
As a result, Ninety-seven percent of the population severed their ties to the living world, vanishing into the ether—drawn toward a place of unknown origin.
The final three percent, gripped by the terror of vanishing, set fire to their own souls.
In return for borrowed time, the true soul—bowed to a single command:
Endure.
It swelled beyond its bounds, burning brighter with each breath, casting its light wide across the void. And in that fading glow, the fortunate few touched the living—beasts, birds, creatures still tethered to Earth.
And thus began the contest.
Not of blade, nor of blood,
but of music.
Yes—combat sung in melody.
Two souls entwined in sound, weaving notes like spells,
until one faltered—
lost to silence.
To slip beneath that silence was to vanish.
But those who remained, still listening, still hearing,
took hold of the vessel,
and lived again.
Yet survival bore its own price.
They emerged into a world no longer colored by day,
but painted in the tones of static and sorrow—
a world heard before it was seen,
a world of endless hum,
a world of night
and grey.
