Chapter 211: Stealing My Pet? Grandpa Is Missing Again?
When Klein returned home in the middle of the night, before he even reached his doorstep, Ship excitedly ran out to greet him.
"Hey, Ship, why are you out here?"
Looking down at the adorable Galvanic Mechamorph, Klein was pleasantly surprised but also a little confused. Logically speaking, Ship should be fast asleep in the bedroom right now. Thanks to Ship's small size, Klein had crafted a tiny, comfortable bed for the little alien, placing it right on his own desk in the bedroom for safekeeping.
Although he did not know exactly what was going on, Klein did not mind. He reached down, gave the little creature a reassuring pat, and walked towards the house with Ship trailing happily behind his ankles.
As he stepped into the front yard, he found Blitzwolfer crouching by the front door. The large Loboan had his tail wagging slightly, wearing an expectant expression that practically screamed for praise.
Klein understood immediately. A slight, knowing smile played on his lips. "Someone came?"
Blitzwolfer nodded heavily, letting out a low grunt of confirmation.
"You drove them away?" Klein continued to ask.
This time, Blitzwolfer shook his head. Immediately after, the Loboan turned his large snout to look at the front door, indicating to Klein that the intruders were already dealt with inside the house.
Klein pushed open the door and walked into the living room.
The scene inside was completely under control. More than a dozen Forever Knights were tightly bound with thick, glowing white bandages. Snare-oh stood silently beside them, his glowing eyes locked onto the captives to prevent any chance of escape.
Seeing Klein enter, the Forever Knights slumped their shoulders. They knew they were doomed.
"So, why did you come to my house?"
Klein half-crouched in front of the squad leader. His eyes narrowed into a half-smile as he spoke, his tone casual but carrying a heavy, dangerous weight.
Hearing Klein's question, the Forever Knights broke out in cold sweat. Drops of moisture streamed down their faces under their metal helmets. Yet, without exception, every single one of them clamped their mouths shut, remaining stubbornly silent about their mission.
"Won't talk? It does not matter if you do not. I have plenty of ways to know what you are thinking anyway."
As his words fell, Klein immediately stood up. He placed his right hand on the Another Omnitrix strapped to his left wrist.
A brilliant, dark blue light illuminated the living room.
A Forever Knights Castle somewhere in the countryside.
Inside a dimly lit laboratory, advanced equipment hummed quietly.
"Doctor, is something wrong?" a middle-aged man dressed as an assistant asked. He looked toward the man beside him, a scientist wearing a crisp white coat. The doctor possessed one normal eye and one greyish-white, unfocused prosthetic eye.
Hearing the assistant's question, the doctor just shook his head slightly. "It is nothing..."
He just suddenly had an ominous premonition creeping up his spine. This was probably just his imagination acting up after a long night of research, so there was no need to voice his concerns out loud.
But for some reason, the creeping dread grew stronger and stronger with each passing second.
"Well, I will just..."
Before the doctor could finish his sentence, a deafening boom shattered the night. The thick stone wall of the ancient castle exploded inward, completely pierced by a massive, brown, scaled hand. Debris flew everywhere as the giant hand reached into the laboratory and directly grabbed the doctor, hauling him out into the cold night air.
Dangling in the grasp of a giant Humungousaur, the doctor thought of a very specific curse word, but he did not know whether it was wise to say it out loud.
"You are the one who sent people to my house to catch my pet, right?"
Humungousaur spoke grimly. His devastating voice rumbled like thunder, practically piercing the doctor's eardrums and vibrating through his chest cavity.
"Cough, cough... This was all just a massive misunderstanding, actually."
Although Humungousaur's oppressive presence was suffocating, the doctor desperately tried to remain calm. He had a dozen psychological tactics ready to convince this giant alien not to crush him into paste, and he was completely confident in his ability to manipulate the situation. After all, his achievements in psychology and negotiation were not low. He could just talk his way out of this...
"Whatever. Even if it is a misunderstanding, I am still going to beat you up."
The doctor's good eye widened in horror. 'Damn it, I miscalculated. This thing is completely unreasonable!'
Not long after, screams of inhuman suffering echoed continuously within the ancient castle walls, drowning out the crickets.
"No more! Ah!!!"
The next morning.
Kevin drove Klein, Ben, and Gwen through the streets of Bellwood, eventually pulling up to a large local park.
Inside the car, the atmosphere was quiet. Klein looked half-asleep in the back seat. His eyes were dim and his spirits visibly low, making it seem as if he had been up to something exhausting all night long.
"Cousin, I remember you did not come home very late last night, did you?" Ben, sitting in the passenger seat, leaned forward and looked back at Klein with a confused expression.
"My house was robbed last night." Klein yawned widely, stretching his arms. "I played with them for a while."
Hearing this casual admission, the other three fell completely silent. Although they had not seen the aftermath with their own eyes, they could roughly guess that this so-called playing for a while probably was not particularly fun for those unfortunate thieves.
Immediately, the three of them decided to stop asking too many questions. The car rolled to a stop, signaling they had already reached their destination.
"Huh? That is strange. Where is the Rustbucket?"
Ben looked out the car window, scanning the empty parking lot with clear confusion. Logically, Grandpa Max always parked his iconic motorhome right in this specific spot.
"Maybe he went to the nearby fresh market again?" Gwen suggested as she pulled out her phone, dialing Grandpa Max's number.
Beep. Beep.
"Cannot get through." Gwen lowered her phone, looking a little worried.
"Well, he has gone missing again." Klein was also speechless. Why did his grandpa always like to run around everywhere without telling anyone? He knew without even thinking too hard that Grandpa Max must have gone off to do something highly dangerous again.
"The old man really does not want to admit he is getting old." Kevin could not help but smile, leaning against the steering wheel.
Ben glared at Kevin, clearly displeased by the joke. "We have to find a way to track Grandpa down."
"Relax, Ben, Grandpa will be fine." Klein was not particularly worried. He had absolute confidence in Grandpa Max's survival skills. "We can just look for news about Grandpa when we investigate the Highbreed."
"Sigh, I guess that is the only way." Ben sighed dejectedly, opening the car door to step outside.
