Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Meeting Her Friends

Chapter 68: Meeting Her Friends

Early in the morning, Bei Jiajia eagerly drove them out to eat dandan noodles.

The red chili oil and sesame paste instantly awakened Zhang Yang's taste buds.

"Bei Wei, I have some news. This time, my dad's sending me to supervise the store. How about that? I get to go to Shanghai with you!" Bei Jiajia slurped her noodles and laughed.

Ever since graduating, she had been learning all the details of the family business, from opening stores to management; she was extremely knowledgeable.

Bei Wei looked at Zhang Yang, and Bei Jiajia also glanced at him.

After all, he was the financial backer.

If he didn't agree, Bei Tianfu would have to reassign the supervision.

"Sure, you two sisters can keep each other company," Zhang Yang said without objection.

Honestly, the store's future had too many uncertainties. For now, the main purpose of opening it was for tasks and experience points, and to give Bei Wei something to do.

As for how much time he would dedicate to the store himself-that was uncertain.

Now, with Bei Jiajia going along, the two sisters could coordinate naturally without any friction-perfectly ideal.

Bei Wei and Bei Jiajia exchanged a glance and high-fived.

After breakfast, they set off for Bei Tianfu's company, located in an office building in Tianfu New District.

Building B, 19th floor: Tianfu Catering Management Co., Ltd.

Bei Tianfu greeted them warmly, "Come, come, this way, please."

In the meeting room, the contract had already been prepared.

Because preparations had been made in advance, Zhang Yang skimmed it and found no issues. The terms were clear and generous. Essentially, Bei Tianfu only charged cost for materials; there were no brand management fees or training costs.

As soon as he signed, the system's pleasant notification sounded in his mind.

'Ding!'

[Task (Completed)]

Exclusive distributor rights

[Rewards]

5 experience points; 5M prepaid credits (usable for any type of membership or stored-value card, no cash-out allowed)

Zhang Yang's face lit up.

Progress had moved forward, and he was now only twenty points away from leveling up.

As for the 5 million recharge credits-since cash-out was forbidden by the system, he had no other thoughts. They could be used on anything practical: club memberships, fuel cards, supermarket or mall stored-value cards, and the like.

Not everything in life needed to be flashy or fancy; Zhang Yang immediately thought of everyday-use items.

After signing the contract, Zhang Yang and Bei Wei discussed plans.

They would split up: Bei Wei and Bei Jiajia would head back to Shanghai to oversee store renovations, while Zhang Yang, as the owner, would familiarize himself with basic store operations.

A store owner couldn't be clueless about internal procedures.

"I've booked first-class tickets for you two," Zhang Yang said generously.

"First-class? I've only ever flown business class! Zhang Handsome, you're so generous!" Bei Jiajia cheered. Were it not for Bei Wei beside her, she might have leaped over in excitement.

The flight was in two days-a tight schedule. Zhang Yang thought it was important to act quickly.

With the main goal of this trip accomplished, Zhang Yang relaxed, and so did Bei Wei.

Over the next two days, despite the short time, Bei Wei made sure Zhang Yang experienced Rongcheng fully, savoring every bit of its culture.

They strolled through small taverns on Yulin Road, visited the Du Fu Thatched Cottage to soak in centuries of poetic legacy, wandered through Kuanzhai Alley, and admired the night views along the Jinjiang River.

On the evening before their temporary farewell, Bei Wei couldn't resist inviting her friends to meet Zhang Yang.

In a small tavern on Yulin Road, a group of young people listened to music and sipped their drinks.

"Hey, guess what Bei Wei's boyfriend looks like?"

"Who knows? He's probably handsome, right?"

A few fair-skinned girls in stylish denim shorts chatted excitedly.

After a while, they glanced at a sullen young man nearby.

"Hey, Old Yang, I told you not to come. Why did you even show up?"

Old Yang smiled wryly. "It's not that easy to give up. I just wanted to see for myself, get convinced."

"Are you torturing yourself? Still not satisfied?" the girls shook their heads.

Some boys patted his shoulders. "Matters of the heart aren't just about being exceptional. Sometimes it's just about meeting the right person at the right time. Maybe the other person isn't even as capable as you."

"Exactly, let it go. Don't trap yourself."

The reassurance made Old Yang feel a little better. He had spent years trying to improve himself, hoping to appear before Bei Wei in a new way. He hadn't expected to be too late.

Nearby, a taxi pulled up.

Everyone turned to look.

Bei Wei stepped out first.

"Bei Wei!" the young people stood and waved.

Old Yang gave a faint smile and stood as well.

Though everyone called him Old Yang, he was actually fair-skinned, wore black-rimmed glasses, and looked scholarly.

Suddenly, his expression froze.

On the other side of the car, a tall, handsome figure stepped out.

Even from a distance, the presence, charm, and sheer attractiveness were overwhelming.

In that instant, he knew he was completely outclassed.

A few girls gave sympathetic looks; some boys patted his shoulder quietly. Words felt useless at this point.

"Everyone's here!" Bei Wei greeted her old friends. "Come, I'll introduce-this is my boyfriend, Zhang Yang."

Proudly, she linked arms with Zhang Yang for introductions.

Old Yang stood in shock, staring at the gleam in Bei Wei's eyes for her boyfriend, finally letting go completely.

Letting go brought peace.

"Bei Wei, long time no see," he said calmly as he stepped forward.

"Eh? Fatty Yang, you've lost weight!" Bei Wei teased.

Her friends exchanged knowing glances, shaking their heads silently.
