Chapter 1 - The last wolf blood

In today's world, wolves are no longer just creatures of the wild.

They are everywhere.

In cities. In schools. In companies. In governments.

They live hidden behind human faces, bound by a strict system older than most nations.

A system built on one rule:

Every wolf must belong to a pack.

Packs are everything in the wolf world. They provide identity, protection, strength, and control. Without a pack, a wolf is considered unstable—dangerous not only to others, but to themselves.

They are called:

Lone Wolves.

Most Lone Wolves do not survive long. They lose control of their instincts, are hunted down by stronger packs, or simply collapse under the weight of their own power.

Because in the wolf world, power is not meant to exist alone.

It must be shared.

It must be controlled.

It must be ranked.

Alpha. Beta. Gamma.

Everything is structured. Everything is monitored.

Nothing is left to chance.

But there is a deeper rule—one that even most wolves do not speak about:

Humans are never supposed to awaken wolf blood.

Wolf blood is passed through lineage, sealed through contracts, and stabilized through pack bonds.

If a human awakens it naturally, without a contract, without a pack, without training…

The result is unpredictable.

Unstable.

And extremely dangerous.

Such individuals are marked immediately by the system that governs wolf society. A strange symbol appears on their body—called the Awakening Mark—a sign that they have been detected as an anomaly.

Most of them are eliminated before they fully awaken.

But history records something strange.

Once every generation, one anomaly survives.

A human-born wolf who does not fit any category.

Not Alpha. Not Beta. Not pack-bound. Not controlled.

Something outside the system itself.

And when that happens…

The balance between packs begins to collapse.

Because the system cannot predict what it cannot classify.

And what it cannot classify…

It fears.

This is the story of one such existence.

A boy who lived a normal life…

Until the night his blood answered something it was never meant to hear.

And the world of wolves finally noticed him.

Chapter 1:The boy who should not exist ,

Kai Mercer lived a normal life.

At least, that was what everyone around him believed.

He went to school every morning at 7:30 AM. He sat in the same seat in class. He ate lunch alone most days, not because he was bullied, but because he preferred it that way. After school, he worked part-time at a small convenience store two streets away from his house.

Nothing special ever happened to him.

No drama.

No secrets.

No strange past.

Just a quiet, predictable life.

That was why what happened that night made no sense.

Kai left work late, as usual. The sky was already dark, and the streetlights flickered softly above the empty road. He kept his hands in his jacket pockets, walking at a steady pace.

Then he stopped.

A strange burning sensation spread through his left arm.

Kai frowned.

"…What the hell?"

He pulled up his sleeve.

And froze.

A mark was forming under his skin.

Slow at first.

Then faster.

Like ink being poured into his veins.

It curved into a crescent shape, with three sharp lines extending outward like claws.

Kai stared at it.

"…This isn't normal."

He touched it.

The moment his fingers made contact—

Pain exploded through his body.

Kai dropped to one knee instantly.

"Ah—!"

His breathing became uneven.

His heartbeat grew louder.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

It wasn't just in his chest anymore.

It felt like the sound was coming from inside his bones.

Kai gritted his teeth.

"What is this…?"

The mark pulsed again.

And something inside him responded.

A low sound escaped his throat.

A growl.

Kai froze completely.

His eyes widened.

"…No."

He slowly stood up, trembling.

"That wasn't me."

But deep down, something inside him stirred.

Something foreign.

Something alive.

Kai looked around the empty street.

"Okay… calm down. Just breathe."

Then—

Footsteps.

Behind him.

Kai turned instantly.

A man stood at the edge of the street.

Tall.

Wearing a long black coat.

His presence was strange.

Not threatening.

But heavy.

Like the air itself shifted around him.

Kai stepped back slightly.

"Who are you?"

The man didn't answer immediately.

His eyes were locked on Kai's arm.

On the mark.

"…Impossible," the man whispered.

Kai frowned.

"What's impossible?"

The man finally stepped forward slowly.

"That mark… only appears on awakened blood."

Kai narrowed his eyes.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

The man shook his head slightly.

"You're not supposed to exist."

Kai's heart tightened.

"Stop saying that."

The man looked directly at him now.

"You didn't inherit wolf blood."

Kai paused.

"…Wolf blood?"

The man nodded.

"And yet… it's waking up inside you."

Kai felt another pulse in his arm.

Stronger this time.

He clenched his fist.

"I don't care what you think is happening to me. I just want it gone."

The man studied him carefully.

Then said quietly:

"That mark cannot be removed."

Kai's breathing slowed.

"…Why not?"

The man answered:

"Because it is not a disease."

A pause.

"It is a contract."

Kai stepped back.

"I never signed anything."

The man's expression darkened slightly.

"You didn't need to."

Kai stared at him.

"…What does that mean?"

The man exhaled slowly.

"You need to come with me."

Kai shook his head immediately.

"No."

The man didn't react.

But his voice became colder.

"If you stay here, they will find you."

Kai frowned.

"Who?"

The man looked at the mark again.

"The packs."

Kai didn't understand.

But before he could ask more—

A faint howl echoed in the distance.

Kai froze.

The man's eyes narrowed.

"…Too fast."

Kai turned sharply.

"What was that?"

The man finally looked at him directly.

"That was your warning.". Kai didn't trust the man.

So he ran.

He didn't think.

He just ran.

Through empty streets.

Past closed shops.

Past streetlights that flickered like dying stars.

But something was wrong.

His body felt… different.

Faster.

Lighter.

Like the ground wasn't resisting him properly.

Kai slowed down behind a building, breathing heavily.

"What's happening to me…?"

He looked at his hands.

They were shaking—but not from fear.

From energy.

From something building inside him.

Then—

A sound.

Growl.

Kai turned.

A stray dog stood near the alley entrance.

But it wasn't normal.

It was bigger than it should be.

Its fur was raised.

Its eyes locked directly on Kai.

Kai raised his hands slightly.

"Hey… calm down."

But the dog didn't listen.

It lunged.

Fast.

Too fast.

Kai barely had time to react—

But his body moved anyway.

He dodged.

Cleanly.

Effortlessly.

The dog hit the wall instead.

Kai froze.

"…I didn't do that."

His heart pounded.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The mark on his arm pulsed again.

And suddenly—

Pain shot through his chest.

Kai dropped to his knees.

"Ah—!"

His vision blurred.

A voice echoed inside his head.

Not spoken.

Felt.

"Awaken."

Kai gasped.

"No… stop…"

The dog growled again, circling him now.

But something had changed.

It wasn't attacking anymore.

It was… afraid.

Kai looked at it.

And for a split second—

He saw it differently.

Not as a dog.

But as prey.

Kai shook his head violently.

"No… I'm not thinking like that!"

Then—

Footsteps.

Behind him.

The man from earlier appeared again.

Kai turned sharply.

"You again?!"

The man ignored his tone.

"I told you," he said calmly. "You can't run from this."

Kai stood up shakily.

"I didn't choose this!"

The man nodded slightly.

"No one does."

Kai clenched his fists.

"Then explain what's happening to me."

The man looked at the mark.

"It is waking up."

Kai frowned.

"What is 'it'?"

The man answered simply:

"Your wolf blood."

Kai's stomach tightened.

"I'm not a wolf."

The man replied immediately:

"You are becoming one."

Kai shook his head.

"I don't feel anything changing."

The man's eyes narrowed slightly.

"That's because it hasn't fully activated yet."

Kai stepped back.

"And what happens when it does?"

The man answered:

"You stop being human."
