Chapter 10 - 10 -1 SEASON

Night had fallen. The wind howled through the ruined streets of Detroit, rattling the broken buildings as if testing Dean and his team. Inside the shelters, there was a quiet flurry of activity. New arrivals were learning the security protocols; some were hesitant, others immediately adapted. Dean scanned his team, a faint smile playing on his lips, thinking to himself: This is it… our little world. But outside… outside is still complete chaos.

Suddenly, Cabbar's voice broke the silence from the monitoring room. "Commander… multiple vehicles are approaching the outer perimeter."

Dean narrowed his eyes at the screens. "How many?"

"Five," Emre replied. "Armed to the teeth. This isn't some random gang… they're organized."

Axel drew a deep breath, glancing at Dean. "If they attack, they'll go straight for our shelter. People… they'll be vulnerable."

Dean exhaled slowly. "No time to hesitate. Everyone, take your positions. But remember… lethal force only as a last resort. We're here to stop them, not to slaughter them."

The team moved with precision. Cabbar managed the vehicles and cameras, Servius and Emre took the entrances, Alex and Layla controlled internal communications and traps. Dean stood in the command room, quietly orchestrating their defense.

As the vehicles neared, the air seemed to thicken with tension. The city wind rattled the metal doors; the team held its breath. And then, it began.

Gunfire erupted. Bullets ricocheted off barriers and traps Dean had installed. Most of the team stayed unharmed. But in a split second, an explosion rocked the side entrance. Dean ran toward the chaos and found a wounded civilian with two armed attackers nearby. Servius and Alex quickly neutralized the threats.

Dean scooped the civilian into his arms, eyes locked on the masked leader of the attackers. The man said nothing, his posture rigid, his weapon trained on Dean. Dean's voice cut through the tension:

"You think you can hurt them? You're wrong. These people… they're under my protection. And I won't let you lay a hand on them."

The leader retreated without a word. Dean sensed it—this was only the beginning.

Then Lara's computer flashed urgently. "Commander… city cameras… there's something else."

On the screen, other groups, different from the gangs, appeared. They moved with weapons and military precision. They were scouting Dean's shelters, planning their strike.

Dean's eyes sharpened. "Those could be… old units. But their intent… it's not friendly. We're stepping in. Team, get ready. All of us."

A second explosion rocked the main entrance. Dust and debris filled the air. New recruits panicked. Dean's voice rang out, sharp and commanding:

"Positions! Doors locked. Traps active. No one gets in, no one gets out!"

Amid the chaos, Dean paused for a brief, silent moment. All of this… it should have been under my control. But now… control is already lost.

Then, a massive explosion erupted on the top floor of the shelter. Shards of glass flew, metal barriers bent and twisted. Dean rallied his team, eyes blazing with determination:

"We made it through… but don't get comfortable. We'll survive. Our shelters, our plans… and us, we're always one step ahead. But… someone's inside. I know it. And I'll find them."

The scene cut to Dean standing outside, looking at the sky. Behind him, the shelters glowed faintly. On the horizon, mysterious vehicles lurked in the shadows, signaling a new and unknown threat.

The screen went black.
