Chapter 1 - 1. The Empty Campus

Hello? H-Hello… is anyone there?" she stammered, her voice trembling. "I… I don't understand… why is everything empty?"

When the man stepped closer, she gasped, holding her phone like a shield. "W-Who… who are you? Stop—please! I don't even know you!"

As he took her phone and smiled, she stumbled back, her voice cracking. "N-No… what are you doing? Give it back! Please! I… I'm scared!"

When he leaned closer, she shook her head frantically. "Wh-What do you want from me? I don't know you! Please… just let me go!"

She was yelling for help. But no one came...

Chapter 1: The Empty Campus

Lily Hart had always thought of herself as an ordinary college girl, but ordinary had never quite fit her.

There was a quiet brilliance about her, the kind that made people notice without her trying. Her intelligence wasn't loud it was subtle, the way she solved problems effortlessly, remembered details others forgot, and approached challenges with a calm logic that seemed almost uncanny for someone her age. But it wasn't just her mind that drew admiration. Her kindness was equally remarkable. She smiled easily, spoke gently, and always offered a helping hand. Professors praised her diligence, classmates admired her sincerity, and friends trusted her without question.

That morning, Lily felt the usual buzz of energy as she walked toward campus. The crisp spring air carried the scent of fresh blossoms, and the sun cast a soft golden glow across the familiar path she had walked countless times. She hummed softly, lost in her thoughts about the upcoming midterm and a research project due next week. College life was ordinary, predictable, and for Lily, comfortable. Or so she thought.

When she reached the campus gates, a strange silence struck her like a physical blow. The chatter of students, the echoing footsteps in the corridors, even the distant sound of teachers' voices-all were gone. The sprawling lawns, usually dotted with clusters of friends laughing and tossing footballs, were empty. Every classroom she passed was deserted.

"Hello?" Lily called, her voice tinged with unease. She expected a friend to pop out and laugh, saying it was some unexpected holiday. But there was nothing. Not a soul.

Her heart began to pound. "Maybe… maybe it's a holiday?" she muttered, trying to rationalize it. She glanced around, but even the usually reliable campus security guards were absent. Something felt wrong-off, though she couldn't put her finger on it.

Turning back the way she came, she froze. Standing directly in her path was a man. And he wasn't just any man. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and impossibly imposing, the kind of figure that commanded attention without a word. His dark suit was impeccably tailored, hinting at wealth and power, and the sharp line of his jaw, paired with piercing eyes, made him look dangerous-like someone who belonged in a boardroom and a battlefield at the same time. But what made him most unsettling was his expression: a slow, confident smirk that didn't reach the cold depths of his eyes.

Lily's breath hitched. She felt the instinctive urge to step back, but her legs refused to move. Panic prickled up her spine as the man began walking toward her, each step deliberate, controlled, and strangely predatory.

She fumbled for her phone, her hands shaking as she unlocked it and dialed the number of her best friend. "H-Hello? Hello?" Her voice trembled as she waited for someone-anyone-to answer. Her eyes darted between her phone and the man closing the distance between them.

Before she could finish her plea, the man suddenly grabbed the phone from her hand. In one swift motion, he flung it to the ground. It shattered with a sharp crack, the screen spider-webbed from impact. Lily stumbled back, her voice caught in her throat.

"No… no, no! Give it back!" she stammered, fear making her words jagged.

The man's smirk widened, as if amused by her panic. His voice was smooth, deep, and dangerous-yet oddly calm. "No need for anyone else when I'm here for you, my girl."

Lily blinked, her mind racing. What… what is he talking about? Who is he?

"I-I don't know who you are! What are you even saying?" she managed to say, her voice trembling with a mix of confusion and fear.

"Oh, really?" he murmured, his tone playful yet chilling. "Should I make you remember who I am?"

Her stomach lurched as a shiver ran down her spine. There was something in his eyes-a cold intensity that made her feel trapped, exposed, like a deer caught in a hunter's gaze. She took a cautious step back, but he mirrored her movement, closing the distance again.

Before she could react, he reached out, his hand brushing her arm. Lily screamed-a sharp, panicked cry that echoed through the empty campus. "Ahhh-!"

The scream seemed to awaken something in him. Instead of retreating, he leaned closer, his presence overwhelming, almost suffocating. The world around her felt distant, the sunny morning fading into a haze of fear and tension. Her heartbeat thumped in her ears as adrenaline surged through her veins.

For a moment, she tried to gather her thoughts, to find a rational explanation. Maybe this was a prank. Maybe someone was filming a hidden-camera stunt. But nothing in her experience could account for the sheer, unnatural intensity radiating from this stranger.

And yet… beneath the fear, a strange, inexplicable pull tugged at her curiosity. He was dangerous-she could feel it-but something about him was magnetic. Something that made her chest tighten in ways she didn't understand.

He tilted his head slightly, studying her reaction. "Don't be scared," he said softly, but there was a dangerous edge under the words. "You'll remember soon enough."

Lily's mind raced. Remember what? Remember who he is? She shook her head, but the sense of impending danger only grew. She realized, with a sinking heart, that there was no one coming to save her. She was completely alone-with him.

And that realization sent a fresh wave of panic crashing through her. She tried to move, tried to run, but her legs felt heavy, weighed down by fear. The man's smirk never wavered, his gaze never leaving hers. Every instinct screamed at her to escape, but her body refused to obey.

Time seemed to stretch as he stepped closer, his presence dominating the empty courtyard. Lily's hands trembled, her voice barely a whisper as she spoke again. "W-What… what do you want from me?"

He paused for a moment, letting the words hang in the air. Then, almost tenderly-but with a sharp undertone-he replied,

"You'll see… my girl. You'll see."

And in that instant, Lily knew that nothing would ever be the same.

The normal, predictable life she had known-filled with classes, friends, and quiet routines-was gone. In its place was a world of unknown danger, thrilling obsession, and a man who seemed to exist solely to unravel her life… and her heart.
