Everything in his status window was the same as before. However, at the end of the panel, there was a new entry that had not been there earlier.

===

[You are currently affected by the permanent affix— The Man Behind The Taboo]

---) The Man Behind The Taboo: Because of the influence of a certain power, your past, present, future, karma, destiny, everything about you, is shrouded in mystery and cannot be influenced by anything. You are immune to skills that can affect your destiny or karma in any way. Your luck is increased to some degree.

===

Ryan read the new entry that had suddenly appeared on his status window, his back drenched in cold sweat.

He was not very knowledgeable and did not know many things. However, even someone as simple as him could tell that anything related to the word Taboo was far from ordinary.

Forget about anything else, just thinking about that word inwardly made him feel as if he had been thrown into an icy cellar.

'Calm down… calm down. At first glance, this thing doesn't seem like anything bad...' Ryan tried to calm his trembling body and as he carefully read the details again, he began to feel that this affix might not actually be something harmful.

In fact, from his perspective, it seemed quite useful.

Not to mention the parts about being immune to skills related to karma and destiny, things he did not fully understand, the last sentence about increasing his luck to some degree was already extremely useful to him.

His talent was Mutation, which could trigger different levels of mutation. To trigger higher-level mutations, the thing he needed the most was actually luck.

"I don't know what this certain power is that gave me this affix, but as long as it doesn't hurt me, it should be okay… right?" Ryan muttered to himself and finally calmed down.

At the same time, he couldn't help but think about the reason why he had received this affix.

'Is it because I killed those two people, or does it have something to do with my talent or the newly mutated Bloodline Aspect…?' Ryan thought inwardly and felt that it was most likely because of his talent and mutated aspect.

After all, both of those things were far from ordinary.

Ryan closed his status window and was about to go back inside when he suddenly thought of something and looked toward the house next door.

He recalled the damn rooster that had shattered his dream of eating the sun that morning, and a malicious glint flashed in his eyes.

"That rooster belongs to that bastard Razor…" He said in a low voice, his eyes narrowing.

"Since I have already killed that guy, I might as well act like a real young master for once and slaughter the chicken he was raising too, leaving nothing related to him alive."

The door of the house was not locked, as Razor had thought he would return quickly after dealing with Ryan. As such, Ryan easily entered the house.

Unlike Ryan's own home, which had only one room and nothing else, Razor's house was quite large.

It had two rooms, along with a separate kitchen and bathroom, and even a small backyard.

It wasn't surprising, since Razor was a member of the Roaring Dragon Gang, a gang that held considerable power in the slums.

Without wasting time, Ryan quickly went to the backyard and saw the damn rooster that had ruined his dream early that morning, sleeping soundly.

Ryan walked up to the rooster, and before it could wake up, he grabbed it by the neck and, with a slight twist, snapped it.

The rooster died instantly, and Ryan finally had something good to celebrate his awakening with a grand feast.

After taking the rooster, Ryan thought for a moment and began searching Razor's house, hoping to find some money or anything valuable.

He had already searched both Scar and Razor's bodies. However, other than two knives, he had not found anything on them.

After searching for nearly a full hour, Ryan finally discovered some money hidden inside a rice jar.

He counted the money and was overjoyed when he realized it was around twenty thousand credits, an amount greater than his entire savings.

"With this money, it will be easier for me to do things once I leave the slums..." Ryan muttered to himself as he left Razor's house.

After returning home, Ryan first took a bath to clean himself, as he was soaked in sweat due to the body enhancement he had experienced earlier.

By the time he finished, it was already past eleven.

Ryan was feeling extremely hungry after not eating anything except the two buns he had for breakfast. As such, he quickly cleaned the rooster and decided to make a simple chicken curry with rice.

While cleaning the rooster, Ryan suddenly discovered something inside the rooster's chest and raised an eyebrow.

"Is this… a stone?" He muttered to himself as he pulled out a fingernail-sized, light green stone from within the rooster's chest.

Just as Ryan took out the stone and held it in his hand, several notifications suddenly appeared before his eyes.

===

(Detected an unranked Life Crystal)

(Do you wish to absorb it for one Source Point?)

[Yes/No]

====

"Huh?" Ryan read the notification, his eyes widening.

"Life Crystal… what is this thing?"

Ryan did not immediately choose to absorb the Life Crystal. Instead, he took out his phone and searched for information about it.

At this moment, he once again couldn't help but feel depressed about his lack of knowledge, as he had to rely on the internet for every small piece of information.

More importantly, he couldn't even verify whether the information available online was actually correct.

Soon, more than fifteen minutes passed, and Ryan finally gained some understanding of Life Crystals.

"The creation of this thing is quite difficult..." Ryan muttered to himself before putting away his phone.

According to the information he had found online, Life Crystals could only be found within the bodies of monsters or animals that were about to evolve into monsters.

However, not all monsters possessed a Life Crystal.

Only monsters that had reached the peak of their rank could condense a Life Crystal.

For example, if a Rank One monster reached the peak limit of Rank One, it could attempt to break through to Rank Two.

In order to break through to Rank Two, the monster would need a large amount of energy, and this energy came from the Life Crystal.

After reaching the peak of their respective rank, monsters would condense a Life Core within their bodies. Using it as a medium, they could attempt to break through to the next rank.

The rooster that Ryan had just killed had already reached the limit of an unranked creature and was on the verge of breaking through to the early stage of Rank One.

However, before it could fully utilize the Life Crystal it had condensed, it had been killed by Ryan.

"Although it's difficult, I finally have a way to obtain more Source Points..." Ryan muttered quietly.
