Chapter 5 - chapter 5

The night air pressed against Alex's skin as he lingered in the shadows near Seraphina's secluded home. Her dark form moved gracefully inside, hands glowing faintly with the restless energy she so often tried to suppress.

She wasn't weak—far from it—but she was restrained, shackled by rules not entirely her own. William's voice lingered in her mind, a calming authority urging restraint. Control your Sin, Seraphina. Harness it, don't let it consume you.

Alex stepped closer, letting the shadows cloak him entirely. Nyx's voice whispered sarcastically:

"Ohhh, look at you. Playing mentor to a girl already loyal to someone else. Risky… and delightfully dumb."

He ignored her teasing. Observing her aura, he could feel the tension of suppressed wrath—the barely contained fire that William told her to deny. Sin Analysis showed it clearly: power restrained, potential locked, desire for freedom simmering underneath.

"You're trying too hard to be someone else," Alex murmured, letting his voice brush the edges of her consciousness through subtle influence. It wasn't control—not yet. Just a suggestion, a thought planted.

Her eyes snapped toward the shadow, instincts flaring. "Who's there?"

"Just… someone who understands," Alex replied smoothly, letting a thread of shadow curl around her room like a protective veil. "I can see what you are, Seraphina. What you're holding back. You're powerful, but you hide it because you think it's wrong."

Nyx snorted. "Ohhh, going for the psychological angle now? I love it. Let her simmer. You do realize she's loyal to William though, right? Yeah, the so-called hero of destiny."

Seraphina's fists glowed brighter, her chest heaving as if fighting an invisible chain. "I… I must control it," she said, her voice trembling. "William said… I can't let it consume me."

Alex tilted his head, studying her. "What if I told you that restraint isn't the only way? That your Sin—your Wrath—is not a curse, but a key? To power, to freedom… to becoming more than anyone else expects of you."

A flicker of doubt crossed her eyes. She hadn't heard anyone speak like that. Not William. Not anyone. Only the shadows whispered freedom, danger… and opportunity.

Nyx purred in his mind, playful but serious:

"Careful, Saint. You're poking at her loyalty. One wrong move and you've got a battle you cannot win. Or… maybe that's the point?"

Alex allowed himself a small smile. Every subtle suggestion, every whispered thought, was part of a plan. He didn't want her obedience—not yet. He wanted choice. A heroine who chose him over fate, over William, over the world that sought to control her.

For the first time, Seraphina hesitated. Her aura pulsed unpredictably—raw wrath restrained only by loyalty, longing, and fear. She was a perfect candidate for Alex's first general under his new progenitor authority.

And he would see it through.

Tonight was observation. Tomorrow, influence. And one day… Seraphina would decide whose guidance truly unlocked her power: the hero who demanded control… or the vampire who offered release.

Nyx's voice drifted into his mind once more, softer this time:

"Ahhh… I like this game. Watching them wrestle with destiny while you're in the shadows. Don't screw it up, Alex. Remember—temptation first, domination later."

Alex's lips curved. Lust, power, strategy… all weaving together. This was only the beginning.
