Chapter 1 - beginnings and ends

The amber light of the sun warmed the small village early in the morning. Among many houses, one in particular emitted muffled and indistinguishable sounds. Inside, a couple held each other close to a window that shimmered in gold as the sunlight pierced through. They clung to each other excitedly, their bodies joined almost as if they were one, the woman's legs locked tightly around the young man's waist. Sweat seemed to lubricate them, leaving them both glowing in a yellowish hue.

At some point, they both spasmed, clutching each other even tighter before bracing themselves against the floor with their arms, breathless. The woman still kept her body over the man's waist, but now separated, she displayed her full figure, with the robust breasts of a mother of three and the attractive curves of her soft flesh as she caught her breath.

— Every time we do this, I remember why I chose you long before reaching the right age, even having to wait so long.

— Oh, I thought it was because you saw me naked in the lake that time.

— That too.

— But you know, you weren't the only one dreaming about this.

— Do you think I don't know? — the woman said, laughing and tossing her curly hair. — You used to come to my house saying you wanted to play with my children, but I knew exactly who you wanted to play with!

— Caught red-handed! — he said, before kissing her mouth in a passionate and daring way.

— All right, I love this, but my man will be home soon; you'd better go.

— Okay, I have to go anyway. I should be feeling some change by now, shouldn't I?

— Sometimes it takes longer; you shouldn't worry so much — she said, tapping his bare chest.

She stood up, and with a wave of her hand, a blue light eliminated the sweat and any dirt from both their bodies. They dressed and said their goodbyes as Gutz stepped out onto the stone streets.

— She said not to worry, but today I turn twenty-one. It's the deadline for me to awaken my mana! Dammit! I should be feeling something by now! All I notice are slight shivers on my skin.

— Hey Gutz, visiting Melinda? — an old man said as he passed by, delivering bottles of milk to each wooden door.

— Of course, but I think I'll hunt something for the family later. Do you have a milk for me?

— Sure! Here. But that woman is already thirty and has stayed as lively as she's been since she was your age!

— I imagine you'd know, old man!

— I wasn't always old, you know.

— I'd better go if I want to catch anything decent in the forest.

— Good luck, young man.

He ran through the stone roads, taking in the beautiful scenery of the village's wooden houses, their reddish roofs, and the lively people in their colorful clothes and enthusiastic smiles.

— This is the best place in the world — Gantz thought.

.......

A carriage with beautiful curves and carvings that looked like lizard scales, topped with flags and as red as embers in a fireplace, was escorted by a group of armored soldiers. Their mounts followed a pattern resembling beautiful animals—a fusion of a lizard and a horse—with thick reddish scales covering their entire bodies and small horns lining the snout of the creature, which walked with noble grace.

The lush green trees shimmered on either side of the road. The ground was uneven due to the lack of infrastructure, and the sun shone brighter than ever, even if it didn't emit much heat.

— Captain! — a guttural voice called from inside the carriage. Female laughter accompanied the voice before ceasing.

A young knight with blue eyes and golden hair approached, opening the window.

Inside, a short man with black hair was naked, with two beautiful women with curly hair intertwined with his body.

— Father, what do you wish?

— Are we arriving soon, my son?

— Just a few kilometers left, sir.

— Excellent. I'm inspired today, and we're going to have a bit more fun before we have to get ready — the man dealt two slaps to the women's behinds, and they laughed with pleasure.

— If it weren't for them, I'd be dying of boredom on this inspection trip.

— Certainly, sir!

The young captain moved away with a hint of envy on his face; he wished he were home with his women too.

— But duty is duty. In the name of the sacred, we must sacrifice some pleasures to fulfill the will of the Great One!

His eyes shone with respect as he thought of his god.
