Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Man Who Should Have Died

That night Luo Qingyan dreamed he was running with blood on his hands and laughter behind him.

"Stop."

A voice, cold and familiar.

He turned.

A man in white stood there unmoving.

"…You again?"

But something was wrong. Shen Wuyou's eyes were filled with something Luo Qingyan had never seen before. Desperation.

"Don't go." Shen Wuyou said pleading.

Luo Qingyan laughed.

"…I'm not going anywhere."

But when he looked down his body was fading.

"…Wait."

The world cracked.

"Luo Qingyan."

A hand reached for him too late. Everything went dark.

Luo Qingyan woke up gasping for air. His heart pounding, his clothes were soaked in sweat.

"…What was that…"

The room was quiet. Too quiet.

Then

"…You saw it." a voice said in the dark

Luo Qingyan froze.

Shen Wuyou stood by the window as if he had always been there.

"…Do you normally break into people's rooms?"

"This is my peak." Shen Wuyou argued

"…Fair."

"…What did you see?" Shen Wuyou asked.

Luo Qingyan hesitated. "…Nothing important."

Shen Wuyou stepped closer.

"…Do not lie."

The air tightened.

"…You were there," Luo Qingyan said finally. "You told me not to go."

The room was silent.

"…And?" Shen Wuyou asked.

"…And I did anyway."

For a moment something flickered across Shen Wuyou's face. Gone before it could be understood.

"…You remember nothing else?" Shen Wuyou asked

"…Should I?"

A long pause.

"…No."

Luo Qingyan frowned.

"…That sounds like a lie."

Shen Wuyou turned away.

"…Sleep."

"…You just woke me up."

No response.

"…You're very bad at conversations."

Still nothing.

But as he left Luo Qingyan heard it.

Soft…almost inaudible.

"…This time…You will not disappear."

Luo Qingyan sat there, heart still racing.

"…This is definitely not just about money." he muttered to himself.
