Chapter 1 - The Cursed Haveli

Title The Cursed Haveli

Chapter One The Village and the Haveli

There was a small village named Bhadrapur surrounded by fields and dense trees. The people of the village lived simple lives and believed in old traditions. At the edge of the village stood an ancient haveli. It was huge but broken from many places. Its walls were cracked and covered with black stains. The wooden doors were old and made strange sounds whenever the wind blew.

The villagers called it the Cursed Haveli. No one dared to go near it after sunset. Many said that the haveli was once full of life but now it was a place of fear. Children were warned not to even look at it at night.

People whispered that strange sounds came from inside the haveli. Some said they heard crying voices. Others claimed they saw shadows moving in the windows. But no one had the courage to find out the truth.

Chapter Two The History

Years ago the haveli belonged to a rich landlord named Devendra Singh. He was known to be a powerful and cruel man. He owned large lands and many workers served him. His wife Meera was kind and soft spoken but she lived in fear of her husband.

Devendra Singh had a younger brother named Arjun. Unlike Devendra he was gentle and loved by everyone. He often helped the poor villagers and treated them with respect.

One day Devendra became suspicious of his brother. He believed that Arjun wanted to take his property. In anger he locked Arjun inside a dark room of the haveli. No one was allowed to help him. Arjun kept shouting for help but his voice slowly faded.

After a few days Arjun died in that room. Meera tried to stop Devendra but she failed. She was heartbroken and started losing her sanity. People say that she used to wander in the haveli at night talking to herself.

Soon after strange things began to happen. Servants started leaving the haveli one by one. They said they heard footsteps and whispers. Devendra ignored all warnings.

One night Devendra was found dead in his room. His face was full of fear. No one knew what had happened. After that Meera disappeared. Some say she jumped into the well behind the haveli. Others believe she still wanders there.

After these events the haveli was abandoned forever.

Chapter Three The New Visitors

Many years passed. The haveli became more broken and silent. But one day a young man named Rohan came to the village. He was a writer and loved exploring mysterious places.

Rohan heard about the haveli and became curious. The villagers warned him not to go there. They told him that no one who entered the haveli stayed normal after that. But Rohan did not believe in such stories.

He decided to spend one night in the haveli to discover the truth. He carried a torch a notebook and some food. As the sun set he walked towards the haveli.

The air felt heavy as he reached the gate. The broken door opened with a loud creak. Inside everything was covered with dust. The walls were dark and the silence was disturbing.

Rohan felt a strange chill but he ignored it. He chose a room on the ground floor and sat down to write. He wanted to record everything that happened.

Chapter Four The First Night

As night grew deeper the haveli became colder. The wind started blowing through the broken windows. Suddenly Rohan heard a faint sound. It felt like someone was walking in the corridor.

He stood up and looked outside but saw nothing. He told himself that it was just the wind. But then he heard it again. This time it was clearer. Slow footsteps moving closer.

His heart started beating fast. He picked up his torch and followed the sound. The corridor was long and dark. As he walked the footsteps stopped.

Rohan turned around and suddenly saw a shadow at the end of the corridor. It disappeared quickly. He ran towards it but found nothing.

When he returned to his room his notebook was lying open. He was sure he had closed it. On one page there was a line written.

Leave this place

Rohan felt scared but also more curious. He decided not to leave.

Chapter Five The Hidden Room

The next morning Rohan explored the haveli. He found an old staircase leading to the upper floor. There were many rooms but most of them were empty.

At the end of the corridor he found a locked door. It looked different from the others. The wood was darker and the lock was old but strong.

Rohan felt that something important was hidden behind that door. He searched for a way to open it and finally broke the lock using a metal rod.

As the door opened a strong smell came out. The room was small and had no windows. The walls were covered with scratch marks.

In the corner Rohan found a skeleton. It was sitting against the wall as if it had been trapped there. He realized that this must be Arjun.

Suddenly the door behind him slammed shut. Rohan tried to open it but it would not move.

Chapter Six The Presence

The room became colder. Rohan felt that someone was watching him. He heard a whisper.

Why did you come here

The voice was weak but clear. Rohan looked around but saw no one.

The whisper came again. This time it was louder.

You should not have opened the door

Rohan felt fear like never before. He tried to stay calm. He said that he only wanted to know the truth.

Suddenly the skeleton moved slightly. Rohan stepped back in shock. A shadow appeared near the wall. It slowly took the shape of a man.

The figure looked thin and weak. Its eyes were empty. It was Arjun.

Chapter Seven The Truth Revealed

The spirit of Arjun started speaking. He told Rohan about his death and the cruelty of his brother. He said that his soul was trapped in the haveli because of the injustice he faced.

Arjun also revealed that Devendra did not die naturally. He was killed by the restless spirits of the haveli. Meera too could not find peace and her soul wandered in pain.

Rohan asked if he could help. Arjun said that the truth must be known. The haveli needed to be freed from its past.

Suddenly another presence filled the room. It was stronger and darker. The shadow grew bigger.

It was Devendra.

Chapter Eight The Final Encounter

Devendra spirit was angry. He did not want the truth to come out. He blamed Arjun for everything.

The room started shaking. The door opened by itself. Rohan ran out but the spirits followed him.

In the main hall the temperature dropped suddenly. Rohan felt surrounded by invisible forces.

Arjun tried to protect him but Devendra attacked. The shadows clashed in a silent battle.

Rohan remembered the well behind the haveli. He ran towards it. He believed that something important was connected to it.

Chapter Nine The End of the Curse

At the well Rohan found old remains. It was Meera. He realized that her soul was also trapped.

He spoke loudly asking for peace. He said that the truth would be told to the world.

Slowly a calm presence appeared. It was Meera. She looked at both brothers with sadness.

Her presence weakened Devendra. Arjun moved closer and the darkness started fading.

With a final cry Devendra disappeared. The air became still. Arjun smiled for the first time.

Meera and Arjun slowly vanished into light. The haveli became silent.

Chapter Ten Aftermath

The next morning Rohan left the haveli. He told the villagers everything. At first they did not believe him but slowly they accepted the truth.

The strange sounds stopped. The fear disappeared. The haveli was no longer cursed.

Rohan wrote a book about his experience. The story spread far and wide.

But even today some villagers say that on certain nights a faint whisper can still be heard.

Not of fear but of a story that once needed to be toldTitle The Cursed Haveli
