Chapter 28 - Rebuilding the Empire in Shadows

The studio buzzed like a beehive. Sketches scattered across the walls, swatches of fabric piled high, the smell of fresh ink and coffee hanging thick in the air. Mau, Lira, and Aida moved in synchronized chaos—each step deliberate, each action precise.

"This corner is chaos, that corner is genius, and this corner…" Lira waved dramatically at a pile of mangled sketches, "…is where I make it look intentional."

Mau glanced at her, amused. "Chaos intentional… I like that. Let's call it artistic flair."

Aida rolled her eyes, quietly adjusting a set of sketches on the wall. "Let's just make sure the clients see brilliance, not your flair."

Despite the banter, Mau felt alive. Her fingers flew over sketches, translating forest-born instincts into designs that were organic yet sophisticated, daring yet elegant. Shapes inspired by twisting vines, leaves, and mountain streams became patterns that could easily grace runways.

Orders began trickling in—not much at first, just whispers in the design community—but people noticed the anonymous newcomer. Word spread: a designer whose work felt natural, yet shocking in its precision.

"Someone called me a genius today," Mau muttered, eyes scanning a pattern of interwoven bamboo textures.

"You are a genius," Aida said firmly. "Don't argue with the universe."

"And humble too," Lira added, smirking. "Which is terrifying for everyone else."

Hours passed like minutes. The trio worked seamlessly—Mau creating, Lira organizing, Aida strategizing. Together, they rebuilt M Designs from the shadows, unseen, but unstoppable.

The city's elite circles were a different kind of jungle—cutthroat, polished, and full of unspoken rules. It wasn't long before whispers of the anonymous designer reached their ears.

Sheena White, elegant, composed, and supremely self-assured, attended a private showcase of emerging designers. Aida had tipped her off subtly—always careful not to reveal Mau, but letting the rumor mill stir.

"There's a new talent in town," a socialite whispered, swirling champagne. "Organic, edgy… almost too perfect."

Sheena's lips pressed into a thin line. She had grown accustomed to being the only heiress, the "star" of every family narrative. A mysterious newcomer threatening to steal the limelight was unacceptable.

"Sheena, relax," whispered one friend, sensing the tension. "It's just hype."

But Sheena's eyes narrowed. Something primal stirred—jealousy, recognition, and a vague unease she couldn't quite place.

Meanwhile, Mau, unaware of the brewing storm, moved through her designs with quiet focus. Lira flitted beside her like a mischievous shadow, while Aida orchestrated production with silent precision. The city didn't know it yet—but a force had arrived that could rival even the White family's polished elite.
