Chapter 1 - The Shadow

On 17th February 2026, Laura was in her kitchen, making pancakes for her husband, who worked in a private company as a typist. She was doing it because it was their first wedding anniversary.

While cooking, she suddenly heard the doorbell ring. It was 8 o'clock. At first, Laura did not find anything strange about it.

But as she walked toward the door, she remembered something—her husband had told her that he would return around 11 PM.

Then who was at the door?

A chill ran through her body. Laura slowly leaned toward the peephole to see who was outside. She looked carefully.

No one.

She stepped back, confused.

Trying not to overthink it, Laura returned to the kitchen. She wanted to finish the pancakes and prepare a beautiful cake to make their first anniversary special. She had just started pouring the milk when suddenly—

Knock! Knock! knock

This time, it was not the doorbell.

The knocking was loud. Heavy. Almost angry.

Laura froze.

She looked at the clock.

8:30 PM.

Her hands began to tremble, and a thin layer of sweat formed on her forehead. She turned off the stove and slowly walked toward the door again. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears.

She looked through the peephole once more.

Again, no one.

Breathing nervously, Laura turned away from the door.

And then she saw it.

A dark black shadow moved across the second floor.

Laura stopped cold.

Her throat went dry. Her fingers shook as she quickly took out her phone and called her husband. But the call did not connect.

Out of network coverage area.

Now she was truly scared.

She did not know what was happening in the house—or what was watching her.

Gathering all her courage, Laura picked up a metal rod. Holding it tightly, she began climbing the stairs to the second floor.

The upstairs hallway was dark and silent.

She searched the wall for the switch. After a few long seconds, she found it and turned it on.

The bulb lit up for a moment—

then began to flicker.

Laura stepped into the corridor, moving as quietly as possible, gripping the rod tighter with each step.

Then, just before the light went out completely, she saw it.

A tall, filthy, unnatural black figure stood only eight feet away from her.

It was massive.

And smiling.

Laura screamed and ran toward the stairs. But in her panic, she missed a step.

She slipped.

And crashed down the stairs into darkness.
