"Wake up-Wake up."
A sweet voice, delicate actually. One of a young girl around the age of 9.
"Big bro wake up, it's my birthday today!"
The little girl proclaims happily.
"Huh, w-what?"
The boy wakes, a handsome young man in his 2nd year of high school.
"Birthday-Birthday-Birthday!"
The little girl giggles.
"Okay-Okay. I'll get up, go sit at the table okay?"
The boy sleepy eyed-barely wake stands and smiles back to the girl.
"Okay."
The little girl trots off to the table.
The boy reluctantly heads to the bathroom and hops in the shower.
"Oh c'mon, Leo, it's your sisters birthday hurry up in there."
"Yes moth.er.."
"Don't give me that, hurry up."
The two exchange a laugh.
"I'll be right out."
Leo finishes the shower and gets dressed in a pretty casual outfit.
A white tee shirt reading vamp in bold text and plain black baggy sweats.
He looks at himself in the mirror.
A hazel eyed-brown hair teenager looks back at him.
His own reflection.
He brushes his teeth and goes to the kitchen where his little sister and mom are waiting for him.
"Are you ready to sing happy-birthday to Lily now?"
Leo looks at his sister.
Her in her cute pink dress and a bow in her curly blonde hair that goes all the way down to her waist. Her pink shoes, little tiny princess ones.
"Of course."
The two sing together.
"Happy-Birthday to you.. Happy-Birthday to you.. Happy-Birthday to Lil-ly.. Happy-Birthday to youuuu! And many more."
Lily starts to cry, not tears of sadness but tears of joy.
"Thankss, you guys are the best. I LOVE YOU BOTH SOOOO-MUCH!"
The mother starts to cry as well as she leans in to hug Lily.
"We love you SOOO-MUCH too honey."
"Hey Leo get in here you rascal!"
Leo doesn't cry but only smiles as he leans down to hug the two of them.
"You big baby's."
The three hug for awhile then of course. THE CAKE.
The little girl digs into the little cake made of strawberry with vanilla icing along with a little tiny princes figurine on top holding the number 9 above it's head symbolling Lily's new age.
...
The three finished the little cake.
"Hey you two I got plans for Lily's birthday."
Lily and Leo both look at their mother.
"Really?!?"
The little girl ask with so much happiness in her voice.
"Really. Were going to meet up with some of moms old friends from college, you two know them."
Leo looks up at his mom.
"You aren't lying right, you know we haven't done anything together since... well you know. Dad left."
Leo's mom has a slight crack in her voice.
"I swear honey."
A slight pause.
"Were going on a trip, a family one... all of us together."
"And also I heard that the neighbor has a really cute daughter your age."
Leo's mom lights up with joy and smiles at Leo ear-to-ear.
Leo couldn't help but giggle a little.
"Sounds nice."
Leo's mom laughs at his nonchalant-ness.
"What am I going to do with you? Both of you. You little rascals."
The three exchange giggles.
"Alright we leave tomorrow."
Leo's mom excitedly says while still smiling ear-to-ear.
The three play some board games, watch movies, and laugh... so much laughing.
After a while the three head off to their rooms.
Leo can hear his mom in his sisters room across the hall.
"Goodnight sweetie, love you!"
"Goodnight mommy, love you to!"
You can hear the two's grins in their voices.
Leo's mom finally heads into his room.
Well by the door actually.
"Goodnight Leo, Love you!"
"Night mom, love you too!"
They exchange grins and his mom heads off to bed.
Leo drifts off into a deep sleep.
