Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Days passed.

With Luke's deliberate effort to get closer, he naturally became Peter Parker's best friend.

They went to school together every day and returned home together.

As for the four bullies—

Ever since that incident, they would take a wide detour whenever they saw Luke.

One afternoon, Peter Parker came over to Luke's house to hang out.

Only recently had they realized that they actually lived quite close to each other.

"Hey, Peter! How are you?"

Seeing Peter standing at the door, Luke's adoptive mother Karen greeted him warmly.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Nelson. I'm doing well."

Peter answered politely.

"I'm here to see Luke."

"Go on upstairs, dear. Luke is waiting for you."

Karen welcomed Peter inside.

"Okay, Mrs. Nelson. See you later."

Peter smiled as he stepped in.

Inside, he ran into Luke's adoptive father.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Nelson," Peter greeted politely.

Karen looped her arm through her husband's and watched Peter hurry upstairs.

She smiled.

"I'm so happy Luke made a friend so quickly."

"I was worried he might have trouble adjusting to his new environment."

"The psychologist said adopted children often become withdrawn."

"Don't worry, dear," Fudge said with a smile.

"Luke is the smartest kid I've ever met."

"He knows how to adapt."

"When he grows up, he'll make us proud."

"I believe that too."

Karen's face was full of warmth.

"Oh, by the way—Matt is coming over later," Fudge added.

"Will he stay for dinner?"

"I don't think so. We just need to discuss some work matters. It won't take long."

"Of course, that's fine."

When Peter entered Luke's room—

He saw Luke surrounded by a pile of strange items.

After watching for a while, Peter asked curiously:

"Hey, what are you doing?"

Luke looked up and smiled.

"I'm preparing to raise some funds."

"Raise… funds?"

Peter frowned slightly.

"Are you planning to buy something?"

"Well…"

Luke gave a mysterious smile.

"That's a secret. You'll find out in a few days."

Peter's curiosity immediately skyrocketed.

He stared intently at everything Luke was doing.

Spread out in front of Luke—

Was a messy pile of various items.

Toy cars.

Models.

Collectible cards.

The most valuable items were:

A nearly brand-new PSP handheld console—

And a limited-edition Disney commemorative coin.

All of these belonged to Luke.

Gifts from his adoptive parents.

Christmas presents.

Birthday presents.

New Year gifts.

And now—

He was planning to sell all of them.

To gather startup capital—

For his money-making plan.

He didn't need these things.

Selling them—

Was simply putting them to better use.

Luke estimated that altogether—

They could fetch around $300 to $350.

The PSP alone was almost untouched.

Practically brand new.

At that moment—

Peter, who was standing by the window, suddenly spoke.

"Hey, I think someone's here at your house."

"A man."

"Oh? A man?"

Luke didn't need to guess.

He already knew who it was.

There were only a few people who would visit his adoptive parents.

And among them—

Only one man fit that description.

"Wait here for a bit. I'll be right back."

Luke said to Peter.

Then he handed him the PSP.

"Here, you can play this."

"Okay!"

Peter nodded eagerly.

Luke went downstairs.

Sure enough—

In the living room—

Was exactly the person he had expected.

A man wearing black sunglasses—

Sitting on the couch.

Matt Murdock.

"Hey—is that Luke?"

The man turned his head slightly, smiling.

Across from him sat Fudge, who was also smiling at Luke.

Looking at the so-called "blind" man—

Luke couldn't help but think:

Yeah, keep pretending.

But outwardly, he spoke politely:

"Good evening, Mr. Murdock."

"Just call me Matt," the man said with a smile.

"Alright, Matt. Would you like something to drink? I'll help Karen bring it."

Luke went into the kitchen—

Helping Karen serve drinks.

Back when he first learned that his adoptive father worked with the famous Daredevil—

Luke had been shocked.

Was it just a coincidence?

Regardless—

Daredevil was a hero worthy of respect.

He fought crime.

Protected the weak.

He didn't fly like Iron Man.

Didn't wield thunder like Thor.

But—

He was grounded.

Real.

A true street-level hero.

As a child—

Matt had been blinded after exposure to radioactive chemicals.

But in return—

His other senses were enhanced to superhuman levels.

He could perceive his surroundings through sound—

Like a human radar.

His heightened sense of touch—

Gave him incredible balance and reflexes.

After his father was killed—

Matt swore to fight crime.

To protect the innocent.

He became one of the guardians of Hell's Kitchen.

And his greatest enemy—

Was the crime lord Kingpin.

In public—

He remained a blind lawyer.

Hidden among ordinary people.

At this moment—

In Matt's eyes—

Luke was simply a polite and well-behaved child.

From Fudge and Karen—

He had already heard about Luke.

And he liked him.

Of course—

This was partly intentional.

A system notification appeared in Luke's mind:

[Matt Murdock Favorability +3]

A faint smile appeared on Luke's lips.

Fudge reached out and patted Luke's head.

"Alright, Luke. Matt and I still have some work to discuss."

"Go play."

"Okay, Fudge."

Luke had already achieved his goal.

So he obediently went back upstairs.

Returning to his room—

He continued preparing his plan.

He needed money.

Desperately.

Recently—

During another ten-pull—

He had obtained something unusual.

Not a skill book.

But a recipe.

Bonina's Delicious Burger Recipe.

A guide—

On how to make the most delicious burgers.

And that gave him an idea.

Could he use this—

To make money?

Raising startup capital—

Was only step one.

Next—

He would need help.

Specifically—

Peter Parker.

After all—

In a seven-year-old body—

There were many things he couldn't do alone.

With two people—

Efficiency would be much higher.

Luke looked at Peter—

Who was now completely absorbed in the PSP.

Then asked:

"Hey, I remember you said your uncle Ben has an RV, right?"

"Yeah," Peter replied.

"A big one. White."

"The color doesn't matter."

Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Can you help me get it out?"
