Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – The Heart of Deception (1894)

The year 1894 brought with it a new type of danger. The enemy was no longer content with random attacks—they sought to infiltrate the very heart of the Jorwick estate. Jonathan spent sleepless nights scanning for weaknesses, using Hamon not just as a weapon but as a tool of detection, sensing every subtle disturbance in the air.

One evening, a quiet knock echoed through the manor. Jonathan, alert, moved silently to intercept. A servant's frightened face greeted him. "Master… someone has entered the east wing… they say it's your father's library."

Jonathan's pulse quickened. He moved through the halls, Hamon coursing along his sword. Shadows flickered unnaturally. From the darkness, a figure struck, faster than Jonathan's eyes could track. Hamon flared, energy slicing through the figure's strike.

The intruder revealed themselves—a former ally turned spy, skilled in the dark arts the enemy had employed. Jonathan's movements were flawless, anticipating and countering each attack, pushing the intruder back step by step. Finally, with a surge of Hamon, he forced them to retreat.

The confrontation was brief but brutal. Jonathan realized the stakes had changed: the enemy sought knowledge, strategy, and leverage over the Jorwick line. Protecting the legacy was no longer just about defending the streets; it was about defending centuries of secrets and power.
