"No... no! You can't kill me! I am from the Heavenly Flame Sect!" the Golden Core cultivator pleaded.
"The Heavenly Flame Sect?" Ye Fan asked coldly, though a trace of confusion lingered in his voice. "Why are you targeting me? I don't believe we have any enmity."
"We know everything," the captain sneered
.
"We know about your admission to the Heavenly Sword Sect, your embarrassing defeat at the hands of their Holy Son, and how you dug the Supreme Bone out of your own elder brother—only for it to reject your body!"
What?! They know all about my dark past? Enraged, Ye Fan swiftly delivered the killing blow.
How did this happen? Now I'm being targeted by the Heavenly Flame Sect! Ye Fan thought frantically. How will I ever find a wife in the future?!
His mind was in turmoil. The more he thought about the rumors spreading, the more furious he became. In a blind rage, he began obliterating his surroundings. After venting his anger on the landscape and destroying the attackers' corpses, he quickly wrapped up his mission and rushed back toward his sect.
However, the journey back was perilous. Along the way, he was ambushed no less than twenty times by various rival sects and noble families.
By the end of it, Ye Fan was in a terrible state. He looked worse than a beggar; his clothes were reduced to charred, blood-soaked rags. His hair was completely singed, and he was drenched in blood, his body riddled with vicious sword cuts and burns—with a suspiciously high number of the wounds aimed directly at his thighs.
At first, he thought the information leak was the work of spies within the Sword Sect. But after surviving wave after wave of ambushes, he realized something was wrong.
No, this isn't normal, he thought. Even with spies, there's no way the news could travel this fast!
Someone is fanning the flames. Who is targeting me? ...Damn it, it has to be that bastard! I'm completely sure it's Su Changhe; only he would do this! But why is he so petty? Why is he targeting me? People think he's benevolent, but he's nothing more than a two-faced villain!
He isn't following the script! Shouldn't he just look down on me and ignore my existence? Then his lackeys would come looking for trouble, and I could face-slap them! Why is he taking me so seriously? How does he have so much free time to target a nobody like me?!
Ye Fan fumed silently as he dragged his battered body toward the Heavenly Sword Sect. After a grueling journey, he finally stood before the massive mountain gates.
Just don't give me a chance, Su Changhe. Otherwise, I will make your life a living hell, he vowed darkly before stepping toward the entrance.
"Halt! Who goes there?" a guarding outer disciple shouted, stepping forward to block his path. "Where did this beggar come from?"
Ye Fan, already pushed to his breaking point, was instantly enraged.
"I am Ye Fan, a core disciple of the Third Peak!" he spat coldly, tossing his identity jade pendant over for verification.
The outer disciple caught the pendant. After quickly checking the spiritual signature within it, his face drained of color.
"Sorry... sorry! I am so sorry, Senior Brother! I was just doing my duty!" the outer disciple stammered in a panic, hurriedly bowing to the blood-soaked man before him.
Ye Fan snorted coldly, snatched back his pendant, and strode through the massive gates. Ignoring the shocked stares of passing disciples, he made a beeline straight for the Alchemy Hall to treat his grievous injuries.
Upon arriving, a young alchemist was assigned to tend to him and immediately began examining his battered body. It took some time to clean away the blood and assess the numerous, dangerously placed sword wounds. After completing a thorough full-body check, the alchemist stood back, his expression grave and difficult to read.
Before the healer could even open his mouth to speak, Ye Fan—remembering the suspicious concentration of attacks aimed at his lower half—anxiously blurted out, "Sir, there's no problem with my manhood, right?"
The young alchemist let out a long, heavy sigh. He looked at Ye Fan with eyes full of complex emotions and slowly said, "Sir... your manhood is—"
