Chapter 1 - Bound by Ink, Freed by Love

Title: Bound by Ink, Freed by Love

The contract was simple.

Six months. One marriage. No emotions.

At least, that's what Ava Thompson believed when she signed her name at the bottom of the neatly printed document. Across from her sat Ethan Cole, a man known for his cold precision in business—and, apparently, in life.

"This is just a formality," Ethan said, sliding the pen toward her. "My company needs a stable public image. You need financial security. We both win."

Ava hesitated for a second, then signed.

She told herself it was just a deal. Nothing more.

Living together was… strange.

They shared a luxurious apartment, attended events hand in hand, and smiled for cameras like a perfect couple. But behind closed doors, they were strangers—two people orbiting each other without ever truly connecting.

Ethan was always distant, buried in work. Ava kept herself busy, decorating the empty spaces of the house, trying to make it feel less like a showroom and more like a home.

One evening, everything changed.

Ava fell sick.

It wasn't serious, but it was enough to keep her bedridden. For the first time, Ethan canceled meetings. He stayed home. He made her soup—badly—and sat beside her awkwardly, as if unsure what to do.

"You don't have to do this," Ava whispered.

"I know," Ethan replied quietly. "But I want to."

That was the first crack in the contract.

Days turned into weeks.

Ethan began coming home earlier. Ava started waiting for him. They laughed more, argued sometimes, and slowly, without realizing it, they stopped pretending.

One night, while watching the rain fall against the glass windows, Ava spoke softly, "What happens when the six months end?"

Ethan didn't answer immediately.

Because for the first time, he didn't know.

The final day arrived faster than either of them expected.

The contract sat on the table again, just like it had in the beginning. Only this time, neither of them reached for a pen.

"So… this is it," Ava said, her voice steady but her heart racing.

Ethan looked at her—not like a business partner, not like an obligation—but like someone he couldn't imagine losing.

"It doesn't have to be," he said.

Ava blinked. "What do you mean?"

Ethan took the contract, paused… and tore it in half.

"I don't want a contract anymore," he said. "I want something real. I want you—if you'll have me."

For a moment, Ava just stared at him.

Then she smiled—the kind of smile that made everything else disappear.

"No more contracts," she said. "Just us."

And just like that, what started as a deal written in ink became a love story written in heart.

If you want, I can make it more dramatic, add plot twists, or turn it into a longer story 😊
