Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Earnest Admonitions, Arrival in Barak City

Led by the village chief, Old Man Yu, Yu Yan and Xiao Wu arrived at the front of the village.

A sizable caravan stopped in front of the fishing village, and the caravan leader was discussing purchasing matters with Yu Qiqiang.

The fishing village has been cooperating with this caravan for many years, selling fish, pearls, aquatic products, and some herbs, and helping them purchase some goods.

Originally, the fishing village only sold fish caught in the Barak River. However, after the old fisherman's son became a Soul Master, he brought back many ways to help the villagers get rich. He contacted a caravan passing through the fishing village and arranged for them to conduct regular trade with the village.

Over time, the fishing village and the caravan became familiar with each other, and they would not refuse to do small favors like asking the caravan to take Xiao Wu and Yu Yan to Barak City.

After finishing the matter, Old Man Yu stood in front of Yu Qiqiang and solemnly instructed him: "Yu Qiqiang, remember to take good care of Yu Yan and Xiao Wu when you go to Barak City this time. If anything happens to them, I will definitely not forgive you."

"Don't worry, village chief. It's not easy for the village to produce another Soul Master. If something happens to him in Barak City, you won't even need to scold me; I'll feel guilty to death myself."

As the second-in-command of the village, Yu Qiqiang showed no airs in front of Old Man Yu. He bowed and scraped, indicating that he would definitely keep a close eye on Yu Yan and prevent any accidents from happening to him.

Besides, this is just a trip to the city on business; what unexpected things could possibly happen?

Old Man Yu patted Yu Qiqiang on the shoulder, then turned to Yu Yan and told him what to be careful about in Barak City.

According to Old Man Yu, Barak City is the main city of the Heavenly Dou Empire's Barak Kingdom. The city is home to many nobles, who are people who should never be provoked.

Aside from the nobles in the city, do not easily provoke those powerful Soul Masters. Some of the more wicked Soul Masters might take action directly in Barak City.

Knowing that Old Man Yu genuinely cared about him, Yu Yan didn't feel annoyed at all by Old Man Yu's nagging instructions.

To be honest, he really enjoys the feeling of being cared for and appreciated.

"Old man Yu, you don't need to worry too much. I will take good care of this little guy who can become a Soul Master. Besides, Barak City is a main city with guards patrolling the city. It's not as dangerous as you say. Moreover, they won't be gone for too long."

Seeing that the goods had been loaded and unloaded, Old Man Yu was still giving endless instructions. The caravan leader quickly came to Old Man Yu's side, subtly reminding him while showing goodwill that they were about to leave.

Old Man Yu knew there was no danger in Barak City, but he was still worried. If he weren't so old, he would definitely have gone with them.

"Remember what I said, be careful."

Having understood the meaning behind the caravan leader's words, Old Man Yu gave Yu Yan one last piece of advice.

"Grandpa Fish, don't worry, I'll be careful."

"I will also be careful."

Yu Yan and Xiao Wu nodded obediently in agreement, and under the old man's gaze, they followed the caravan toward Barak City.

Considering that Yu Yan and Xiao Wu were young, and that Yu Yan would definitely become a powerful Soul Master in the future, the caravan leader arranged for Yu Yan and Xiao Wu to be on a cargo wagon in the middle of the caravan.

...

Two days later, the caravan arrived safely and smoothly at its destination, Barak City.

This caravan has been traveling this trade route for several years without any major incidents. If any unexpected situation were to arise because of Yu Yan's joining, Yu Yan would really start to wonder if he had some kind of jinx.

After being inspected by the soldiers at the city gate, the caravan successfully entered Barak City.

Upon entering Barak City, Yu Yan had to temporarily separate from the caravan due to their different destinations.

Looking at Yu Qiqiang, who was about to escort him to the Spirit Hall, Yu Yan, who remembered that he had come to Barak City on business, said: "Uncle Qiqiang, you can do whatever you need to do. It's just to awaken a spirit. I can take Xiao Wu with me. There's no need to take up your time."

"No, if Old Man Yu finds out I didn't take you to the Spirit Hall, I'll definitely get a scolding when I get back. You know how much these things mean to him." Yu Qiqiang explained, then said, "Let's hurry to the Spirit Hall to awaken. After you awaken, I'll take you to the inn where you're staying, and then I'll go about my own business."

"OK."

Yu Yan understood what Yu Qiqiang meant, so he didn't continue with the pleasantries. Going back and forth with pleasantries would only waste time for no reason.

Although Xiao Wu is the protagonist of this martial soul awakening, she does not express her opinions; she is the one who follows the arrangements.

During this time, Xiao Wu learned a lot about human society, but that doesn't mean she can face everything that's about to happen with ease.

Seeing that Yu Yan did not continue to refuse, Yu Qiqiang nodded in satisfaction and led Yu Yan and Xiao Wu toward the Spirit Hall in Barak City.

Walking along the bustling streets of the human city, Xiao Wu looked left and right, filled with curiosity about everything, like a country bumpkin visiting a grand garden.

Yu Yan was also observing his surroundings, but he didn't show much expression. In terms of prosperity, Barak City couldn't compare to the bustling metropolises of Blue Star. Yu Yan wasn't too surprised by this place; he just found the scenery quite novel.

There aren't many things that can catch Yu Yan's attention, except for the Soul Arena and Barak Academy.

The Battle Arena is easy to spot; it's a building resembling a large stadium, and you can faintly hear shouts coming from inside when you stand at the entrance.

The Soul Arena was a place in Yu Yan's future plans for him to earn money and hone his combat skills, so he took a few more glances at it.

Barak Academy, also known as Barak Advanced Soul Master Academy, is a very famous noble academy.

Yu Yan remembered that this academy's team had appeared in the All-Continent High-Level Soul Master Academy Battle Tournament that Xiao Bie San had participated in. Being able to stand out from countless academies was enough to show that Barak Academy definitely had something special.

After traveling for more than an hour, Yu Yan and his two companions finally arrived at the Spirit Hall in Barak City.

As an organization that worships the Angel God, the Spirit Hall's architectural style is entirely that of Western European churches, and the Spirit Hall in Barak City is no exception.

"Soul Master, hello. We are here to awaken our Martial Souls."

After taking a deep breath, Yu Qiqiang approached the two Soul Masters standing guard at the entrance of the Spirit Hall and explained his purpose for coming.

Yu Qiqiang was very nervous at this moment. After all, he was just an ordinary person without soul power, and he was bound to feel timid when facing a soul master.

"After passing through the lobby, walk to the left passage. The Martial Soul Awakening Room is the room at the very end of that passage. Once you enter the room, someone will tell you what to do."

In the past two days, many people have come to the Spirit Hall to awaken their spirits. The spirit masters standing at the door did not make things difficult for Yu Qiqiang. The spirit master who was questioned simply told Yu Qiqiang what to do next as a matter of routine.

Yu Qiqiang thanked the Soul Master who told him what to do, and led Yu Yan and Xiao Wu into the Spirit Hall.

Upon entering the Spirit Hall, Yu Yan could clearly sense that Yu Qiqiang, who was usually extremely shrewd, had become nervous, and even his walking posture had changed.

This gives a glimpse into the enormous gap between Soul Masters and ordinary people.

Not only did Yu Qiqiang become nervous, but Xiao Wu, who was beside him, also became noticeably nervous. She unconsciously began to move closer to Yu Yan, trying to gain some sense of security from him.
