Three days later, Miles waits at the bus stop, tapping his foot over and over nervously. Just then, Shane call out to him, tapping his shoulder as he says "Hey, man. Everything cool with Naya..?", but Miles smiles, staying silent and shaking his head. "I really should fix things with her..", Miles says, rubbing the back of his neck as they get on the bus.
As they arrive at school, Miles notices Shane's expression changing to frustration as he types away on his phone. "Dude? What's got you so heated?", Miles asks, but Shane chuckles, putting his phone away, and saying "Just.. girl trouble, man. Don't worry about it.", as they leave the bus and enter the school gates. Miles trying to lighten the mood, says "Anyways, I gotta save up for a new phone. Any ideas how I can save up for a new one?", and Shane replies "Just do what I do. Get a part time job. Besides, it'll help clear your head after.. everything that happened.".
Suddenly, Shane is swarmed a small group of upperclassmen, Shane immediately telling Miles "Dude. Go. I'll catch up with you later.", causing Miles to ask, confused "Wh.. What..? Who are these guys? What's happening-?", but Shane interrupts him, shouting "I said I'll catch up with you later! Now go!". Miles, looking at the group of 12th graders, sees a familiar face in the seemingly hostile crowd, it's Anny. He stops briefly before walking to class, occasionally sneaking glances at Shane. As Miles sits in class, he checks the clock, thinking to himself "It's been like 30 minutes.. What's going on out there..?", as he nervously scribbles on his sketchbook. His gaze is fixed on the window, looking out at the football field.
Suddenly, the teacher says "Class. We've gotten word that our former top student, Naya Hashanah, has decided to transfer classes.", causing Miles' eyes to widen, and he asks "What?! But.. did she say why she's transferring?", to which the teacher says "Actually, she said this choice was made because of.. certain distractions in this class.". Miles' stomach ties in a knot as he looks down, thinking to himself "Shit..! It's my fault.. I knew it..!", he takes a deep breath before thinking "If this is what she wants..". Class goes on as usual, until Miles goes to the bathroom. "Okay, maybe she just needs space, we'll talk when she's healed..", but his thoughts are abruptly halted by the sight of Shane when he opens the bathroom door. Shane leans on the sink, with bruises on his face and clutching his stomach and spitting out a bloody tooth.
"Sh-Shane..! What happened?!", Miles shouts, rushing to help him up, only to be met with silence. "I don't get it.. You were always the most popular kid, so how.. why would they.?", Miles asks, but sees Shane looking down, with a hollow expression. "Who did this?", Miles asks, his worry turning to something more fierce, to which Shane mutters "It's.. no big deal, man. I got what I deserved..". Miles turns on the tap, splashing Shane with water and asking "Deserved?! There's no way you did anything to deserve.. this!". Shane puts his hands on the sink, steadying himself, and says with a sobbing voice "I.. didn't want you see me like this. I was always 'The Prince', right? What kinda Prince am I, huh?", but before Miles could respond, he looks at Miles and feigns a bloody smile, saying "It's cool, really. The Prince just hurt the wrong girl, this time. Don't worry.", and trudging out of the bathroom.
Miles stands there, too stunned to speak, and silently says "You always seemed.. invincible. So why, did you have to break when I was fixing myself, huh?", looking at the sink, Shane's tooth on the floor, before picking it up and putting it in the trash.
Elsewhere, as Naya walks to another class, on another side of the school, she talks to Mallory on video call. "So, I decided to switch outta that class, like you suggested.", she excitedly says to Mallory, to which Mallory responds "I still think you and your ex should talk this over, once and for all, but.. I'm glad you're thinking of yourself for once.". Suddenly, Shane bumps into her, on his way to the infirmary. "Ow, hey! Watch where you're-!", Naya shouts, but stops upon seeing his disheveled state, and battered body. "Shane..? What happened!? You gotta get to the infirmary, quick!", she says but Shane gets up, sarcastically saying "That's the plan, Hall Monitor..". Naya looks at him, asking "Who.. did this to you? I can help..", but Shane passes her, snarkily saying "Oh, my hero..", and entering the infirmary.
As Miles walks back to class, he sits at his desk, unable to relax his pounding heart as he tunes out the teacher's lecture, breathing heavily. "Those 12th graders.. why would they do this..? What did Shane do to them to deserve.. this..?", he thinks to himself, his handwriting faltering more and more as he spirals "And Naya.. she hates me. How am I gonna make things right, now?". His pen stops as one name appears in his head "Chelsea. Maybe.. Maybe she can help with all this..".
Miles looks out the window once again thinking to himself "I need a new phone.."
Later, that afternoon, Miles waits in a phone booth, as he dials Chelsea's number and waits as the phone rings, whispering "Pick up, pick up, Chels..", until, just then, he hears her voice, as she says "Hello..?", to which he says "Chelsea..? Hey.". Chelsea gasps just loud enough for the phone to catch it, before muttering "H-Hey..? Miles.". Miles takes a deep breath, before saying "Chels. I.. I need your help."
