Chapter 1 - GRAND // AWAKENING

The day was normal, average, imperfect but somehow felt just right. Lucas walked down the street at night, doing his usual delinquency.

He graffitied random people's homes, threw eggs at the walls, and plenty more... well, stupid activities.

Little did Lucas know; those were his final moments. Lucas kept walking and laughing with his friends when...

...

Lucas died when stumbling into a ditch by accident.

His friends survived the fall, but Lucas wasn't as lucky...

Lucas broke his neck, falling headfirst into the ditch. But little did everyone know, one singular second after Lucas's tragic death...

The universe, as we know it, came to an end.

Everyone was gone... everything was gone.

But Lucas wasn't, not just yet.

...

His eyes opened.

Light. Warm. Soft.

He felt the touch of small, gentle, hands holding him.

Lucas looked up...

He saw a woman, the woman who was holding him.

"He's been born! Our son!"

Said the woman, holding Lucas.

"He will grow to be a strong warrior like me."

Spoke the man proudly, next to the woman.

"Honey, do not put expectations on the baby! He has just been born, so appreciate this moment."

Said the woman.

The man smirked, holding in a chuckle.

"I was just kidding. Yes, let us celebrate this milestone."

[Why am I being held? Who are these two...? Am I dead...?

Lucas was confused, wondering why he was getting picked up by an adult woman and he was even more lost when they stepped foot on a train, but the second he stared out the window...

He saw space.

Pure space.

Lucas's eyes widened, he stared at his tiny hands, overwhelmed by the thought of even being there, but then it clicked...

There was simply no other logical explanation.

He has been reborn into this strange world.

He asked himself: "Why? When? Where?"

He had to figure this out.

He tried to remember what might have happened that had caused him to be transported to this new world, but his mind fogged.

He tried...

And tried...

And tried again...

But there was no use.

The train rumbled beneath them.

A low vibration ran through Lucas's tiny body... and then...

That same rumble became a roar.

The train tilted, then straightened impossibly fast...

The lights started to stretch out into long, colorful, streaks of fire.

Lucas's eyes widen even more. [The train is moving, but-]

The train sped up... and up... and...

It dashed at immeasurable speeds, Lucas's stomach lurched, and he started to cry.

"H-honey the baby is crying!"

The man panicked, having no clue why the baby is crying. It wasn't really the norm to cry over things such as these in this world. But then the woman gently grabbed Lucas and rocked him up and down, at attempts to comfort him.

[Geez, these people are nuts! How do they even survive going at light speed casually? What are they, crazy?! They can't be human, no way...]

The train made a stop at what appeared to be a town. Lucas and the two adults stepped off the train, Lucas feeling relieved that they aren't going, well... light speed on a train that's literally floating in space.

[Phew... finally... no more of that crazy shit...]

The man and and woman go home with Lucas, now their son.

"Home sweet home."

The man yawned, stretching his arms up in the air.

"I'm going to make dinner, alright Kalt?"

She smiled at Kalt.

"Alright then Lyra; make sure to make food for the baby."

Kalt reminded Lyra.

"Speaking of the baby, we have not given him a name yet."

Said Kalt, to Lyra, who is getting ready to prepare a nice dinner for the family.

"You're correct... let's think of some names."

Lyra thought of a couple of names that can suit their new son but couldn't think of any.

"I have one."

Kalt glanced down.

They both waited...

...

"His name shall be..."

"Aelion."

Now, just then, Lucas was no more... He was now Aelion, the child of Lyra and Kalt.

[And I thought names in my world were stupid...]

Lucas sighed, clearly disappointed by the strange name they've given him.

"Aelion, a perfect name for our little star..."

Lyra smiled warmly, clearly happy with the name suggested.

"Aelion Lanturna... has a nice ring to it doesn't it?"

[Well... now that i think about it, it is a cool name... suits me since, well... I'm the coolest!]

Aelion giggled, waving his tiny hands up in the air.

"Aweee!!" Lyra cooed, scooping Aelion up, her heart melting at the sight. "Such a precious little thing!"

"I can bet that he'll grow up to be quite the ladies' man." Kalt bluntly says, snickering.

"Kalt!" Lyra playfully slaps his arm, laughing Aswell.

"But you're right, he is our son after all..." She giggles.

[My oh my, I'm flattered! Yes, keep the praise coming in my dear parents.]

"Any who, I'm headed off to make dinner. Wait at the table alright?"

Kalt took a seat at the table and set Aelion next to him.

"You know, your mom is an excellent cook." Kalt proudly said.

[Mm... I can tell.] Aelion took one glance at the kitchen, and he could smell the food from a distance.

[This woman knows how to cook! Props to her.] Aelion smirked, licking his lips.

Kalts stomach rumbled.

[Uh oh... that means either two things...]

[This guy's either mega hungry or-]

Kalt stiffened and stood up silently.

"Stay right here kiddo... don't move and uh... don't tell your mom alright?"

[...or he needs to take a dump... sigh...]

Kalt tip-toed silently, and then looked around and dashed to the restroom, locking the door quiet enough so Lyra couldn't hear.

[Why would I even tell Lyra? Its not like she'd get mad at him for taking a number 2...]

A few minutes later, Lyra came back with the food and saw me alone, sitting on top of the table.

"Oh boys! ~ Dinners rea-"

"..."

"Where's Kalt...?"

Her eyes narrowed.

"Don't tell me he disappeared again."

Kalt comes out, sighing from relief.

"Ahhh... That felt good."

Little did Kalt know, both Aelion and Lyra were looking straight at him.

[Welp, rest in peace, dad. You truly were a strong warrior...]

"I thought I told you to wait here with our baby, Kalt." She smiled sweetly, but her eyes said otherwise.

[He's dead.]

"U-umm..." Kalt swallowed nervously, sweating because he's now aware of his impending doom.

Kalt ran, and Lyra chased after him, holding her spatula up.

[Ohhh snap!]

Hours go by, and it's time to go to bed.

"Goodnight my little star, sweet dreams." Lyra gently kissed Aelion's forehead, making him melt.

Aelion yawned softly, his eyes beginning to close.

A new life.

A new world.

A new name.

[Maybe, just maybe...]

[This world isn't so bad after all...]

He finally closed his eyes completely and fell asleep, getting ready to unfold the mysteries of this strange but fascinating new world.
