The holidays had swept through our lives like a warm embrace, bringing Christmas joy and New Year celebrations that seemed to bind us all closer together. Riley and Zoey had woven themselves into the fabric of our family so naturally that it felt like they had always belonged here. Even my parents carried themselves differently now, their smiles coming easier and lasting longer whenever the girls were around.
Silas and Mason had both crossed into adulthood, celebrating their eighteenth birthdays, though neither had discovered their destined mates yet. The uncertainty hung in the air sometimes, but we all knew their time would come.
