Chapter 1 - The Girl Who Loved Rain

** When Rain Met You**

Aarav had always loved the rain. To him, it wasn't just weather—it was comfort, silence, and a quiet escape from the world. Every evening, he would sit by his window, watching droplets slide down the glass, lost in thoughts he never shared with anyone.

One late July afternoon, the skies suddenly burst open. Aarav, without an umbrella, stood at a crowded bus stop, waiting for the rain to calm. People rushed for cover, annoyed and restless.

But then he saw her.

She stood apart from the crowd, not hiding from the rain but embracing it. Her eyes were closed, her face turned upward, a soft smile on her lips as raindrops touched her skin.

Aarav couldn't look away.

A sudden gust of wind carried her scarf toward him. He caught it quickly before it fell into the mud.

"Thank you," she said, opening her eyes.

For a moment, the world felt still.

"I'm Aarav," he said.

"Meera," she replied gently.

From that day on, the rain brought them together.

They met often at the same bus stop, as if destiny itself followed the rhythm of the weather. Sometimes they talked for hours—about dreams, memories, and little things that didn't matter but somehow meant everything. Other times, they stood quietly, letting the rain speak for them.

Aarav, who once enjoyed being alone, now found himself waiting—for her.

Meera had a warmth about her. She laughed easily, spoke kindly, but there was a hidden sadness in her eyes that Aarav couldn't understand.

One evening, as thunder echoed in the sky, he asked, "Why do you love the rain so much?"

Meera paused, her smile fading slightly.

"Because it hides tears," she said softly.

The answer stayed with him.

The next day, she didn't come.

Nor the day after.

Aarav waited, hoping to see her again, but she was nowhere to be found. Days turned into weeks, and the rain no longer felt the same.

One evening, while he sat alone at the bus stop, an old man approached him.

"You're Aarav?" he asked.

Confused, Aarav nodded.

The man handed him a small envelope. "She wanted you to have this."

With trembling hands, Aarav opened it.

Inside was a letter.

"Dear Aarav,

If you're reading this, I couldn't come back. I was sick, and I didn't want you to see me that way. But meeting you was the most beautiful part of my life. You made me forget my pain, even if just for a while.

Promise me you won't stop loving the rain. Because every time it falls, I'll be there… somewhere in it.

—Meera"

As the rain began to fall again, Aarav stepped forward. He closed his eyes and let the drops touch his face.

This time, he didn't feel alone.

Because in every drop of rain, he felt her presence.

And in that quiet moment, he realized—

Some love never truly leave
