Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

One Month Later – April 25, Year of the Dragon's Wake

The Plaza of Unity, Aeridor

The sun rose over Aeridor, painting the sky in hues of gold and violet. But today, something was different—through the permanent portal that now stood in the center of the Plaza of Unity, we could see the skyline of Manila, clear and bright under the same sun.

The plaza was alive with activity. Aetherian mages worked alongside Earth scientists to build devices that harnessed Aether energy for clean power. Farmers from both worlds shared techniques—Aetherians teaching how to grow crops with magic, Earth farmers showing new irrigation methods. Children from Manila played tag with Aetherian kids who could make small flowers bloom with a touch.

I stood at the edge of the plaza, watching it all unfold, when Lyra ran up to me with a wide smile. "They're almost ready for the ceremony!"

Today we would officially establish the Council of Two Worlds—with representatives from every nation on Earth and every realm in Aetheria. Malachar would be among them, having spent the past month working to make amends, using his knowledge to strengthen the barrier between worlds while keeping the portal stable.

"He's teaching a class on Aether theory to Earth students," Lyra said, following my gaze to where Malachar stood with a group of young people, explaining the flow of energy with gentle patience. "Who would have thought?"

"People can change," I replied. "We just have to give them the chance."

Marcus walked over, carrying a tablet covered in notes. "The first joint project is going well—we're building a research center that spans both worlds, right through the portal. Scientists and mages are already making breakthroughs in healing and sustainable energy."

"Your world has so much to offer," I said. "Back when I first arrived here, I thought I'd have to choose between Earth and Aetheria. But now..."

"Now you don't have to," Lyra finished for me. "You belong to both—and that's what makes you the true Star-Blessed."

Ignis landed gently in the plaza, and I climbed onto his back as we rose into the sky to oversee the ceremony preparations. From above, I could see the two worlds blending together—Earth's technology and Aetheria's magic creating something new and wonderful.

"The balance has been restored," Ignis said in my mind. "But it will need to be maintained. That will be your greatest work—not fighting darkness, but building light."

We landed back in the plaza as Elder Maeve called everyone to attention. She stood beside Marcus and Malachar at a podium made from wood from the Tree of Connection and metal from Earth's first satellite.

"Today marks the beginning of a new era," she announced, her voice carrying across the plaza and through the portal to Earth. "No longer will our worlds be separate. We will stand together, learn from each other, and protect each other. This is what unity looks like."

As the crowd cheered—voices from both worlds mixing in harmony—I felt the Memory Stone in my staff glow warm. Images flashed before my eyes: children playing in fields that stretched across both realms, scientists and mages discovering new truths about the universe, dragons flying alongside airplanes in skies that now belonged to everyone.

After the ceremony, I walked through the portal to Earth, where my family and friends were waiting. My mother hugged me tightly, tears of pride in her eyes.

"We saw everything on the news," she said. "We always knew you were meant for something special."

That evening, I stood on my apartment balcony, looking out at the city of Manila while feeling the warmth of Aetheria just steps away through the portal. Lyra was with me, marveling at the city lights that now glowed in harmony with Aetheria's magic.

"Will you stay here, or go back?" she asked.

"Both," I said with a smile. "I'll split my time between worlds—helping build the council, teaching, learning... there's so much work to do."

Lyra nodded. "Good. Because we still have so much to show you—there are other realms connected to Aetheria, places we've only heard about in stories. Maybe one day we'll explore them together."

I looked up at the sky, where stars from both worlds shone as one. The journey that had started with me waking up in a strange forest had led to something I never could have imagined—a future where no world was truly alone.

The adventure wasn't over. It had only just begun.
