Chapter 1 - Memories of love

In a small town, where mornings smelled like fresh books and chalk dust, there stood an old school named Greenwood High. It was not famous, nor was it grand, but for some students, it held memories that would never fade.

Aarav was a quiet boy. He sat in the last bench, always near the window, watching the sky more than the blackboard. He wasn't weak in studies, just lost in thoughts most of the time. His friends were few, and his words were even fewer.

Then there was Meera.

She was everything Aarav was not—bright, cheerful, always surrounded by laughter. She sat in the front row, answering questions, helping teachers, and smiling like she had no worries in the world.

Their story began without any words.

The First Glance

It was the first day of class 10. Aarav looked up from his notebook when Meera walked in. Something about her presence felt different. Not loud, not distracting—just… calming.

For the first time, Aarav didn't look outside the window. He looked at her.

Days passed, and slowly, he started noticing little things. The way she tied her hair during exams, the way she laughed at her friends' jokes, the way she stayed back after school to help others.

Aarav never spoke to her.

But he began to sit a little straighter, listen a little more, and smile a little more—only when she was around.

Silent Feelings

Months went by. Winter came, bringing cold mornings and warm sunlight in the classroom. One day, Meera dropped her pen, and it rolled all the way to the last bench.

Aarav picked it up.

For a moment, their eyes met.

"Thank you," she said, smiling.

It was the first time she spoke to him.

A simple "welcome" was all he managed to say, but inside, it felt like something had changed forever.

From that day, they started sharing small moments. Borrowing notes, exchanging smiles, sometimes even sitting together during group work. To Meera, it was just friendship.

To Aarav, it was everything.

The Growing Distance

As exams approached, the pressure grew. Everyone focused on studies, and time for small talks faded away.

Meera was preparing for a big future. She wanted to move to a different city for higher studies. Aarav knew this, but he never asked questions.

He wanted to say something—about how he felt, about how her presence changed his world.

But every time he tried, words failed him.

"What if she doesn't feel the same?"

"What if I lose even this friendship?"

So he stayed silent.

The Last Day

The final exam ended, and with it, their school life.

The farewell day arrived. Students laughed, cried, took pictures, and promised to stay in touch.

Aarav stood near the gate, holding a small letter he had written for Meera. It was simple—just a few lines about how much she meant to him.

He saw her walking towards him.

For a moment, time stopped.

"Hey Aarav," she said, smiling softly. "All the best for your future."

"You too," he replied, his voice calm but his heart racing.

He held the letter tighter.

This was the moment.

But then her friends called her from behind. She turned, waved goodbye, and walked away.

Aarav didn't stop her.

The letter remained in his hand.

Unspoken. Unread.

Years Later

Life moved on.

Aarav went to college, found new people, new paths. But sometimes, on quiet evenings, he would think about those school days.

About the girl who changed him without even knowing.

One day, while cleaning his old books, he found the letter again.

He smiled.

Not with regret, but with acceptance.

Some stories are not meant to be completed.

Some feelings are not meant to be spoken.

And some love…

is beautiful because it remains unspoken.
