Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 The Name That Should Not Exist

The arena slowly emptied.

Students poured out through the massive gates, their voices rising into a storm of whispers.

Everyone was talking about the same person.

Selene Valkrith.

"Did you see that?"

"She stopped Kael!"

"Without even casting a real spell!"

"Who the hell is she?"

Rumors spread through the university like wildfire.

Some said she was hiding a rare bloodline.

Others believed she was secretly trained by the ancient witch councils.

But none of them even came close to the truth.

Because the real truth was something the supernatural world had tried to erase.

Selene walked calmly through the stone hallway leading away from the arena.

Her expression remained unreadable.

But inside…

She was thinking.

Carefully.

Releasing that pressure had been risky.

Even if it lasted less than a second.

Power always left traces.

And powerful people were very good at noticing traces.

Beside her, Raven stretched her arms lazily.

"Well."

She smirked.

"You just became famous."

Selene kept walking.

"I didn't try to."

Raven laughed.

"Yeah, that's the funny part."

She glanced sideways at Selene.

"You didn't even fight seriously."

Selene didn't answer.

Because Raven was right.

That entire arena battle hadn't even required effort.

But that was the result of ten years of brutal training.

Ten years of surviving assassins.

Ten years of mastering control.

Ten years of learning how to kill without revealing what you really were.

Behind them—

Heavy footsteps echoed through the hallway.

Students quickly moved aside.

Selene already knew who it was before turning.

Alpha heir Kael Draven.

His crimson eyes locked directly onto her again.

Raven grinned.

"Oh look."

"The angry wolf is back."

Kael ignored her.

He stopped a few feet from Selene.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The tension between them filled the entire hallway.

Students nearby pretended not to stare.

But everyone was watching.

Kael finally spoke.

"That pressure."

His voice was low.

"What was it?"

Selene met his gaze calmly.

"Something you imagined."

Kael's wolf growled instantly.

"Liar."

Selene didn't react.

Kael stepped closer.

"You froze me."

His crimson eyes narrowed.

"Nothing freezes an Alpha heir."

Selene tilted her head slightly.

"But you weren't frozen."

Kael clenched his jaw.

He hated riddles.

Especially from someone who looked so calm while giving them.

Raven interrupted casually.

"Relax, wolf boy."

She leaned against the wall.

"If you want her secret so badly, try dating her."

Several nearby students choked on their laughter.

Kael ignored them.

His eyes remained fixed on Selene.

"Your name."

Selene blinked once.

"What about it?"

Kael crossed his arms.

"Valkrith."

Silence.

For the first time…

Something flickered behind Selene's silver eyes.

Very briefly.

Very subtly.

But Kael noticed.

Raven frowned slightly.

"Wait…"

Her golden eyes shifted between them.

"Why does that name sound familiar?"

Kael answered slowly.

"Because it shouldn't exist."

The hallway became quiet again.

Students leaned closer.

Because every supernatural heir knew ancient history.

And some names carried weight.

Kael continued.

"The Valkrith Dynasty ruled supernatural Europe for centuries."

Selene remained silent.

"But they were destroyed ten years ago."

His voice grew colder.

"Their castle burned."

"The entire bloodline died."

His crimson eyes locked onto hers.

"So tell me something, witch."

"How exactly are you still alive?"

The hallway froze.

Raven's eyes widened slightly.

Students nearby exchanged shocked looks.

Selene Valkrith.

The heir of the destroyed dynasty?

Impossible.

Everyone knew the Valkrith family had been wiped out.

No survivors.

No heirs.

Nothing left but ruins and rumors.

Selene looked at Kael calmly.

Her voice remained steady.

"Names are common."

Kael didn't move.

"You expect me to believe that?"

Selene shrugged slightly.

"You can believe whatever you want."

Kael stared at her for a long moment.

Then…

He smiled.

Not because he believed her.

But because the mystery just became much more interesting.

"Fine."

He stepped aside.

"But if you really are a Valkrith…"

His voice lowered slightly.

"You should know something."

Selene waited.

Kael's crimson eyes gleamed.

"The people who destroyed your family are still alive."

Raven frowned.

"Hey—"

But Kael continued.

"And if they discover you survived…"

His wolf aura flared slightly.

"They'll come to finish the job."

For a brief moment…

The air around Selene turned colder.

Not visibly.

But every supernatural instinct in the hallway felt it.

Danger.

Ancient danger.

But Selene simply nodded once.

"Thank you for the warning."

Then she walked past him.

Raven quickly followed.

"Okay wait—"

She whispered.

"Are you actually—"

Selene interrupted calmly.

"Roommate."

Raven blinked.

"Yeah?"

Selene glanced at her.

"You're asking too many questions."

Raven grinned slowly.

"Oh I'm definitely asking more."

Behind them—

Kael watched Selene disappear down the hallway.

His wolf instincts refused to calm down.

Because deep inside…

He was almost certain of something impossible.

Selene Valkrith wasn't just hiding power.

She was hiding history.

A history powerful enough to shake the supernatural world.

Far beneath the university…

The sealed chamber cracked again.

A thin line split across the ancient stone door.

Golden light leaked through the crack.

And the whisper returned once more.

"Valkrith…"

Because if the heir of the ancient dynasty truly survived…

Then the supernatural world was about to face something it had feared for centuries.

The return of a bloodline that once ruled them all.

But if the enemies who destroyed the Valkrith Dynasty discover that Selene Valkrith is still alive, will they come to hunt her again—or will they realize too late that the girl they tried to kill has become far more dangerous than they ever imagined?
