For centuries, magic had once flowed freely across the lands—through rivers that shimmered silver at night, through forests where ancient spirits whispered to travelers, and through the blood of people born with extraordinary abilities.
But magic had also brought ruin.
The War of Falling Stars had nearly destroyed the world when rival sorcerers turned entire cities into dust. Mountains split. Oceans boiled. Thousands died.
So the kings of Valerith made a decree:
Magic would be forbidden.
Anyone born with magical abilities would be hunted, imprisoned, or executed.
And thus the Order of Iron Crown was born—elite warriors sworn to protect the realm by eliminating magic.
