Chapter 1 - The Shadow of Misfortune

Neela was born in a small village on the outskirts, where muddy roads, green paddy fields, and the sound of crickets in the evening were the only companions. Everyone in the village knew each other, but not everyone lived a happy life—and among them, Neela's family suffered the most.

Her father was a daily wage laborer. Every morning, he would go out in search of work and return in the evening with a tired body. Yet, there was always a smile on his face because he had his daughter waiting for him at home. Neela loved her father deeply. She would often rest her head on his lap and listen to his stories—stories of dreams, of growing up, and of a better life.

But one day, all those dreams shattered.

While working, Neela's father suddenly fell seriously ill. Within a few days, he passed away. It was the first great shock of Neela's life. She could not understand why her father was taken away from her, why he would never return.

After his death, all the responsibilities fell on her mother. She started working in other people's houses to somehow earn enough for food. She worked from morning till night. Though Neela was still a child, she could feel her mother's pain.

School was the only place where Neela felt happy. It allowed her to forget her sorrows, even if only for a few hours. Her teachers loved her and often said, "This girl will achieve great things one day."

But fate had other plans.

One day, her mother suddenly fell ill. Without enough money, proper treatment was impossible. Within a few days, her mother also passed away.

From that day on, Neela was completely alone.

🌧️ Days of Darkness

After her mother's death, a distant relative took her in. At first, it seemed like her life might improve. But soon she realized that she was not treated as a family member—she was more like a servant.

She had to wake up early and start working—cleaning, cooking, washing dishes, fetching water. Despite working all day, she often did not get enough to eat. No one understood her pain, no one listened to her.

At night, when everyone fell asleep, Neela would quietly look up at the sky. It felt strange to her that the sky was so vast, yet there was no place for her in this world.

One day, she asked herself,

"Will I live like this forever?"

That question ignited a fire within her.

🚶‍♀️ Journey to the City

Years passed. One day, Neela could not bear it anymore. She decided to take control of her life.

Early one morning, while everyone was asleep, she quietly left the house. All she had was a small bag and a few old clothes.

She made her way to the city.

The first few days were extremely difficult. She had no place to stay, no money for food. Some nights she had to sleep on the streets, sometimes she went to bed hungry.

Yet, she did not give up.

🛍️ A New Beginning

One day, luck finally smiled at her. She got a job at a small shop. The shop owner was strict but not unkind.

Neela worked hard from morning till night. After closing the shop, she would sit in a corner and read old books.

Her love for education had never died.

📚 A Ray of Hope

One day, a gentleman visited the shop. He noticed Neela reading during her free time.

He asked,

"Do you want to study again?"

Neela replied softly,

"I really do… but I don't have the opportunity."

The man was a teacher. He saw a dream in Neela's eyes—a dream he did not want to be lost.

He decided to help her.

🔥 Days of Struggle

Thus began the hardest phase of Neela's life.

She worked during the day and studied at night. There were days she went hungry, nights she stayed awake studying.

But this time, she had a goal.

She knew she had to win this battle.

🎓 The Road to Success

Finally, the day came. Neela passed her exams with good results. She got admitted to college.

Slowly, she began to change her life. The girl who once worked in others' houses was now building her own future.

🌈 Returning Home

Years later, Neela became a teacher.

One day, she returned to her village. Everyone was amazed. The girl who was once called "unlucky" had become successful.

She stood silently in front of her old house.

Tears filled her eyes—but they were not tears of sorrow. They were tears of victory.

💬 Final Thought

Neela's life teaches us one thing—

Misfortune may try to stop us, but it cannot defeat us.

If we have determination within us,

we can find light even in the darkest paths.
