The argument came out of nowhere.
Or maybe…
It had been building all along.
"You could've died!" Asli snapped.
"I didn't."
"That's not the point!"
"It's the only point that matters."
Her frustration exploded. "You think your life means nothing?!"
His expression hardened instantly.
"It doesn't."
The words hit like a slap.
Asli froze.
"What kind of person says that?"
"The kind who knows the truth."
"No," she said firmly. "The kind who's given up."
Silence.
Dangerous.
Then—
"Be careful, Asli."
"No," she shot back. "You be careful. Because one day, you won't come back—and you won't even care!"
That did it.
Something in him snapped.
"Enough."
His voice was sharp. Final.
But this time…
She didn't back down.
And that scared him more than anything else.
