Chapter 1 - Woman's journey towards self confidence.

Mira stood frozen before her wardrobe, her hand hovering over familiar shades of beige and grey.

"Just pick something simple," she muttered to herself. "Don't make it a big deal."

But her eyes drifted to the corner of the bed—where the crimson dress lay, bold and unapologetic.

Her friend Riya's voice echoed in her mind from days before: "Why did you even buy it if you're never going to wear it?"

"I don't know," Mira had replied softly. "It's too… loud. Too much me."

Riya had laughed gently. "Exactly. Maybe that's what you're afraid of."

Now, standing alone, Mira whispered, "What if they stare?"

A quieter voice within her answered, "What if they don't?"

Her heart pounded as she picked up the dress. "Okay… just try it," she said, as if negotiating with herself.

Moments later, she faced the mirror.

She barely recognized the woman staring back.

"Is that… me?" she breathed.

The rich crimson wrapped around her like courage itself. For once, she didn't look like she was trying to disappear.

A knock on the door startled her.

"Mira! Are you ready?" her mother called.

One minute!" Mira replied, panic rising. She glanced at the door, then back at her reflection. "Should I change?"

Her reflection seemed to challenge her.

"No," she said firmly. "Not today."

When she stepped outside, her mother paused, surprised. "Mira… that's different."

Mira's fingers tightened slightly. "Do you… not like it?"

Her mother smiled softly. "No, I do. You look confident."

The word lingered.

As she walked down the street, Mira felt every step like a test. A group of girls passed by, whispering and laughing. She stiffened.

"They're talking about you," her fear whispered.

"Or maybe they're just talking," she countered, forcing

herself forward.

At a crossing, a stranger smiled. "That color suits you."

Mira blinked. "Thank you," she replied, her voice steadier than she expected.

By the time she reached her destination, her nervousness had melted into something stronger.

Riya spotted her first. "Mira! Look at you!" she exclaimed. "You actually wore it!"

Mira smiled, a real one this time. "Yeah… I did."

"And?"

Mira took a deep breath, her eyes shining. "And nothing terrible happened," she laughed softly. "In fact… I feel like myself."

Riya grinned. "Told you."

Mira glanced down at the dress, then back up, her shoulders straight.

"No," she said gently. "I finally told myself."
