Twilight's POV .
I looked for the nearest reflecting object and I noticed there were faint lines of black on my
neck like vines and they were spreading quickly. Same lines Nixon talked about. I might actually head out to see Lysa or rather go to the healer quadrant but that would be later.
I went back to my dorm and changed into something that could cover my neck. I had an agenda for today and it included exploring Aretia beyond these walls but I needed to tell someone.
"Everyone come out, it's time for assessments, owning a dragon isn't for weaklings." The soldiers banged on doors, dragged metals in the rocky grounds barged into people's rooms.
"Are you deaf aren't you meant to be out?" James screamed as he threw my door open.
"I was waiting for you to open my door." I walked out. "Thank you for being a gentleman." I spat at him, matching the resentment in his eyes.Everyone got into their lines and places. I used my eyes to scan for Prati and the others. I found them once we got to the courtyard. I had a plan, but I needed to do my test first because James would look for me.
"So, I'm going to explain everything here. We have a stepping stone…" he pointed at a series of stones lined in front of each other with very little landing area.
"Next we have the tumble wheel." This next set was a large wood with two plates that's
basically tumbling, we're expected to jump over it without getting hit.
"And last for this set we have a set of 8 apples and 12 knives. You are expected to use four knives for all 8 but you're given 12 in case you can't use four. You'll be disqualified
anyways." He took a pause.
"Anyone? Or should we start picking?" James looked around. I needed to leave this place soon, I took a deep breath and I raised my hand.
"Little miss twilight" James sneered.
"You have a balance test, an agility test and an aiming test in front of you. Go through all
three and you'll pass this section. You fail anywhere between the balance and the tumble, you die." He got on his dragon and a soldier got me on theirs.
"You may begin." He shouted.
The soldier's dragon dropped me. I looked at the line of stones leading to the other end, I
looked down and saw everyone looking up, I couldn't see properly but I knew Prati couldn't look.
I said a prayer and started. Half way in I looked back, that was a mistake because fear was beginning to creep in. I had 5 more left and I kept jumping, I nearly slipped twice but I could control my body weight.
I finally got to the end. Cheers erupted from below but I wasn't done yet. It was either I
survive or die. The agility test was something that had to do with calculation. I thanked my
stars for my random math skills and started.
I knew James didn't specify how many we should do on purpose but just to waste his time, I was going to do twenty.
I started and by my 15th count, I heard an irritated James.
"Get over with it Twilight!" I smiled knowing that I had stepped on a nerve.
The next was an aiming test. I looked over to James and did a light courtesy. He had lost this one, he knew damn well I was way to go with knives.The eight apples were placed in twos making it four sets of twos.
I picked a knife and angled it to the side. Aiming for two sets each. I swung it and it sliced
across the first two sets lightly touching the third set. I swung the second knife and the same thing happened. I looked at the remaining 10 knives.
"Do I get to keep it?" James didn't answer, one of the soldiers just brought me back to the ground. Prati and my other friends came to hug me.
I had to find a way to leave up next and I had to do it quickly.
"Prati, I need your help." She looked at me confused because I never ask for help.
"I need you to stand in for me in case I'm being looked for. That's all I can tell you right now, mwah" I mixed myself with the crowd and blended in. I spotted Isla. She looked pissed as she was heading out and that intrigued me more.
I slid out of the "highly guarded" prison, dressed as a different person and followed her. She stopped at a cafe, I entered and sat a bit close to her and people I think were her friends.
I think I heard a little too much.
"But you guys, Twilight is actually so HOT. I passed by her on one of the days we had a
courtyard meeting and she just gave me a passive glance. Her eyes always look hooded by the way and it's such a turn on." Nolan started.
"It's so sad that same sex relationships are not allowed. I would have totally gotten laid by her. And shoot me I think James wants some of her too." Alexandris said as she finished her drink.
"Isla you're oddly quiet." Alexandro pointed out.
"Well I have nothing to say concerning her and I have no interest in having fantasies over my gender." She shrugged.
"Well suit yourself, I want a piece of that cake." Alexandris commented.
"I'm going to get some stuff done. I'll catch up with you guys later. Nolan you have a round in the camp today, the twins you guys can tag along. I'll show up later." She paid and left a tip.
And so did I.
