Chapter 1 - Discovery.

Kai, tired and sleepy sitting in the middle of his mathematics class. He looks to his right and sees that Leo, his closest friend is already fast asleep, not even caring about the lecture anymore.

About 5-10 minutes later the bell rings and magically Leo who was fast asleep jumps awake and starts packing as if he was awake the whole time. In 2 minutes the class empties out and Kai splits up with Leo.

Remembering that he had a biology test tomorrow he goes to the library first to study for the test. As he makes his way through the corridor he had already gone through millions of times, he notices something out of place.

"Since when was there a staircase here?" he says stopping at the top of a staircase leading down to a single, red door. He looks around and it seems there is no one around as most have already gone home to rest for the day.

"Nothing could go wrong... or could it?" he contemplated before going down the stairs and opening the door. As he twists the handle, the door clicks open and reveals a whole new library that seems old.

Kai walks into the library and opens a book, expecting to see nothing important. He reads the first page and notices there is a date. "March 19th, 2026.". "Isn't that tomorrow'sdate?" he thinks to himself while reading the lines. At first, Kai reads small things, like tomorrow's biology test questions, a soccer match result, a class argument, and more. He closes the book and walks through the library in curiosity and stops in front of a book, title "Kai Whitlock." his own name on the tile of the book.

In pure curiosity, he opens the book. Just like the book from before, it starts with tomorrow's date. The first few paragraphs seem normal, he even gets invested in the book at some point but as he gets to next week's date, his eyes suddenly grow wide in shock. The book slips out of his hands and drops to the ground. Kai takes a few steps back as if not wanting to believe what he just read and just walks out of the library.

"Are the events written in the book true?" "Will they actually occur?" "Who wrote them?" "How old are those books?", these thoughts pace back and forth in his head as he makes his way to the school's actual library, and not the library he just found.

He walks in and finds a seat to study before heading home, trying to shut the thoughts out of his head.

An hour had passed and he couldn't get anything to make sense. He gives up and packs his stuff before heading home. That whole night, he kept thinking on and on about the book and its contents. By the time the sun rose, he couldn't get a blink of sleep.

He gets to school early with a decision he had made. Sunlight filled the classrooms, the hallways weren't as noisy, and the birds were chirping. He goes straight to the library. He approaches the bookshelf where he first took the book and stops in his tracks.

"Someone was here." he thinks to himself, his eyes scanning his surroundings trying to find any clue if there was actually a human in there after he left. Yet, he sees nobody. Not a single soul. Hence he leaves it as it is and continues to pull the book out of the bookshelf and read it.

He scans every word, every sentence, every line, every paragraph, even every detail. Not missing a single detail, no matter how small it may seem. And he finally finds a way to stop the event that would happen in the next week. After flipping a few pages, he finds a blank page. He doesn't think much of it and leaves the library.

The school day goes on as it usually does, nothing unusual occurs. The classroom slowly being filled in, the hallways slowly growing its usual noise again. As he starts to think everything in the books he read was fake all along and that he had nothing to worry about, every event listed in the book slowly occurs, one by one. Starting from a pop quiz in math class, the results of a soccer match, even a class argument. Making him almost sure, the book really could predict what would happen in the future. Meaning he could stop any tragedy from happening, as long as it was still in his power.

At the end of the school day, he makes his way back to the library but bumps into someone. Leo, usually he would crack up a joke, but this time he just seemed distant, as if something was on his mind that he couldn't ignore.

"Yo, you alright? You seem down for some reason," Kai asks, genuinely concerned.

"It's none of your business, leave me alone." Leo replies in coldly, brushing past Kai.

Surprised, Kai just stands there. Still processing the interaction they just had until Leo turned a corner, out of Kai's line of sight. Kai doesn't think much of it, hoping it wouldn't have anything to do with what is said in the book.

Kai finally arrives at the library and this time, he opens straight to the page that was once empty. This time he sees the ink moving on the page.

"Kai will absolutely not. Tell anyone what he read and saw in this library."

He froze.

He hadn't decided that.
