In the busy city of Brightstone, tall buildings touched the clouds and cars filled the streets every day. People hurried to work, children went to school, and the city lights shone brightly at night. But no one knew that the city was about to gain a new hero.
Fifteen-year-old Ethan Cole lived in a small apartment with his mother. Ethan was an ordinary boy. He liked video games, comic books, and science. At school he was quiet, but he was very curious about how things worked. His dream was to become a great inventor one day.
One evening, while walking home from school, dark clouds gathered in the sky. Thunder rumbled loudly and rain began to fall. Ethan ran toward an old laboratory building that had been abandoned for many years. He went inside to stay dry.
The laboratory was dusty and quiet. Old machines and broken computers were scattered around the room. Ethan looked around with interest.
"Wow," he whispered. "This place must have been amazing years ago."
As he explored, he found a strange metal device on a table. It had glowing wires and a crystal in the center.
"What is this?" Ethan wondered.
Suddenly, a loud crack of thunder shook the building. Lightning struck the roof, sending electricity through the old machine. The crystal flashed with bright light.
