Chapter 1 - The Long Road of Arjun

Title: The Long Road of Arjun

In a small village surrounded by dusty roads and endless fields lived a boy named Arjun. His house was small, made of old bricks and a tin roof that made loud noises whenever it rained. His father was a farmer who worked hard every day, and his mother stitched clothes for people in the village.

Arjun was not born into comfort. Many days his family struggled even to afford basic things. Sometimes the electricity would go out for hours, and sometimes there was barely enough food. But Arjun had something stronger than comfort — a dream.

He wanted to change his life.

From a young age, Arjun believed that education was the key to a better future. But the road was not easy. His school was 6 kilometers away. Every morning he woke up before sunrise, helped his father in the fields, and then walked to school with his old bag and worn-out shoes.

Many people in the village laughed at him.

"Why study so much?" they said.

"You will become a farmer like your father anyway."

Their words hurt him, but they also gave him strength.

Arjun studied under a streetlight at night because there was often no electricity at home. In winter his fingers froze while holding the pen, and in summer sweat dropped on his notebooks. But he never stopped.

One day, something happened that almost broke him.

His father became very sick and could no longer work in the fields. The family's income suddenly stopped. Arjun had to make a difficult choice: continue studying or leave school to earn money.

For many nights he could not sleep.

Finally, he decided to do both.

During the day he worked in the fields and helped people in the village with small jobs. At night he studied harder than ever before. Sometimes he slept only three or four hours.

Years passed.

When the results of the national scholarship exam came out, Arjun checked the list with shaking hands.

His name was there.

He had secured a scholarship to study in a big city college.

For the first time, his parents cried — not because of struggle, but because of pride.

Life in the city was not easy either. The competition was tough, the language was different, and many students were far ahead of him. But Arjun remembered his village, the streetlight where he studied, and the sacrifices of his parents.

Instead of feeling weak, he worked harder.

He spent long nights in the library, asked questions without feeling shy, and kept improving little by little. Slowly, the same boy who once struggled to understand lessons became one of the top students in his class.

After graduation, Arjun got a good job in a respected company.

Years later, he returned to his village — not as the poor boy people once doubted, but as a successful man who wanted to give back.

He built a free library and learning center for village children so they would not have to struggle like he did.

When the villagers asked him the secret of his success, Arjun simply smiled and said:

"Dreams are not achieved by comfort. They are achieved by courage, patience, and never giving up."

And the dusty village roads that once witnessed a struggling boy now witnessed the footsteps of a man who proved that no dream is too big for someone who refuses to quit.
