One quiet afternoon, the library was almost empty. The sunlight filtered softly through the tall windows, painting warm patterns on the wooden floor. Laila moved slowly between the shelves, placing returned books back in their places.
It was one of those peaceful moments she loved.
As she picked up a novel from the return desk, something slipped out from between the pages and fell gently to the floor.
A small folded piece of paper.
Curious, Laila bent down and picked it up. At first, she thought it was just a bookmark someone had forgotten. But when she unfolded it, she noticed something written in neat handwriting.
It said:
"Sometimes the most beautiful stories begin with an accident."
Laila stared at the note for a moment.
The words felt strangely familiar.
Her mind immediately went back to the morning she had collided with Adam outside the library.
Could it be…?
She looked around the room. Adam was sitting at his usual table near the window, writing in his notebook as if nothing had happened.
For a moment, she wondered if the note was meant for her.
Slowly, she walked toward the shelf where she had found the book and placed it back. But her curiosity continued to grow.
Finally, she walked toward Adam's table.
He looked up when he saw her approaching.
"Everything okay?" he asked.
Laila held up the small piece of paper.
"I found this inside one of the books," she said. "Do you know anything about it?"
Adam looked at the note and smiled slightly, though he tried to hide it.
"Well," he said calmly, "libraries are full of secrets."
Laila crossed her arms, pretending to be serious.
"Is this one of your secrets?"
Adam leaned back in his chair.
"Maybe," he replied. "Or maybe it's the beginning of a story."
Laila shook her head, smiling despite herself.
But as she walked away, she couldn't stop thinking about the note.
Because somehow… she felt certain it was meant for her.
