Ram slowly opened his eyes.
His head hurt badly, and his vision was blurred.
He realized he was inside a small dark cell somewhere across the border in Pakistan.
The walls were cold stone, and a small iron window allowed only a little light to enter.
Ram tried to stand, but chains around his wrists stopped him.
A guard outside the cell noticed him moving.
"So the Indian soldier is awake," the guard said coldly.
Ram remained silent.
Soon a military officer entered the room.
He looked at Ram with sharp eyes.
"You are Lieutenant Ram from the Indian Army, correct?"
Ram didn't answer.
The officer placed a file on the table.
"We know everything about you."
Ram still refused to speak.
Finally the officer leaned closer.
"You are brave. But bravery will not help you escape from here."
Ram quietly looked at the small window.
In his mind he saw Sita's face.
"I will return," he promised himself again.
Because somewhere far away in Hyderabad, Sita was still waiting for him
