Chapter 3 - First Draw

In the early hours of the morning, the hospital room was quiet. A pale light slipped through the edge of the window and spread gently across the walls. When Arashi opened his eyes, the first thing he felt was that soft glow. His small body shifted slightly beneath the blanket. For a few seconds he did nothing. This silence had already become familiar to him. The first days of his new life passed like this—quiet, heavy, and slow.

Deep within his mind, Evan carefully observed these moments. Time seemed to move differently. For an adult, a few seconds are meaningless, but for a baby the world moves far more slowly. Even the smallest movements require effort. Turning one's head, lifting an arm, even keeping one's eyes open for too long can feel like a struggle. Over the past few days, Evan had begun to understand this truth.

At first, this situation had bothered him. His mind still belonged to a grown man, yet the limits of his body were completely different. The gap between those two things sometimes created a strange sense of dissonance. His thoughts moved quickly, but his body moved slowly. His mind could form complicated ideas, yet he could barely close his fingers properly.

Still, as time passed, that difference began to feel more understandable. The human mind has a strange talent for adapting—especially when there is no other choice. Evan had already started learning the limits of his small body. He could hold his neck upright for a few seconds and move his hands with slightly more control. These small improvements might have seemed insignificant, but for him they were the first steps of a new life.

That morning, however, something else occupied his thoughts. The screen that had appeared in the center of his vision some time ago. The first time he saw it, he wasn't sure whether it was real or just a hallucination. But after seeing it appear several times, he had accepted that it truly existed. When he was born into this new world, something had come with him.

Evan focused his gaze toward the center of his vision. The familiar transparent screen appeared once more. The text was simple and clear. There was nothing unnecessary. No explanations, no long descriptions. Only a few lines of information and a small menu. In a strange way, that simplicity was comforting. Complicated things tend to create more questions.

Evan silently examined the information displayed on the screen. The fact that his intelligence was higher than the other stats made sense. His mind still belonged to his previous life. What drew his attention more, however, was the chakra value. One thing he knew about this world was simple: chakra was the foundation of everything in the shinobi world. Without it, no technique could exist.

But the most interesting line on the screen was elsewhere. Lottery Tickets: 1. That simple phrase lingered in his mind for several seconds. A lottery draw. He didn't know exactly how it worked, but it was the only active option the system offered. On the menu, two words appeared. YES and NO.

Evan thought quietly for a moment. His new life had only just begun, and a long road lay ahead of him. He knew this world well enough. It was dangerous. Shinobi villages, conflicts, wars, and the endless pursuit of power… none of these were gentle things for a child growing up. If he truly intended to survive here, strength would be necessary.

Just then, the door opened. Yuki entered the room. There was still fatigue on her face, but the gentle expression she always carried remained. Over the past few days, Evan had begun observing her more carefully. Whenever Yuki looked at her son, the same warmth appeared on her face. As if the only thing left in her world was this small child.

She sat down beside the bed and carefully lifted Arashi into her arms. The movement was slow and rhythmic as she gently rocked him. In the quiet of the room, only the faint rustle of fabric could be heard. For a moment, Yuki simply looked at his face.

"You're calmer today," she whispered softly. -

Evan listened silently. In truth, he couldn't respond. Yet many thoughts existed in his mind. He didn't know this woman. He hadn't chosen this life. Still, somehow fate had placed him here. Perhaps the first true connection of this new life was this woman.

After a while, Yuki gently placed him back on the bed. While she occupied herself with small tasks on the other side of the room, Evan focused once again on the screen floating before his eyes. The menu remained exactly as it had been. Two simple words. YES and NO.

Evan made his decision.

At first, nothing seemed to happen. Then Evan felt a faint warmth within his chest. The warmth slowly spread throughout his body. It moved from his chest to his arms, and finally to the tips of his fingers. The sensation was subtle, but unmistakable.

Evan focused on the flow of that energy. It moved like a thin stream beneath the surface of his body. Something that had likely always been there, yet had never been noticed until now. But now he could feel it clearly. It was as if something within him had quietly awakened.

A single word formed in his mind.

Chakra.

For several minutes, Evan observed the unfamiliar sensation carefully. The energy was still weak, but its movement felt steady. If this truly meant improved chakra control, it could become something valuable with time. That thought settled quietly in his mind like a promise.

Just then, Yuki returned to the side of the bed. She looked down at her son and paused for a moment. Arashi's eyes were fixed on a point in the room. The expression seemed unusual for a baby.

Yuki smiled faintly. "You're a strange child," she said softly.

Evan listened in silence. Perhaps she was right. He wasn't an ordinary child born into this world. He was someone who remembered another life, now standing at the beginning of a different one.

The morning light had grown slightly brighter inside the small room. Outside, a new day was beginning. Arashi slowly closed his eyes. The faint movement of chakra within him still lingered.

The first true step of his new life had been taken.
