Chapter 1 - Ch. 1 A Life That Meant Nothing

Kaito stood alone on the balcony of his small, dim apartment, staring down at the city lights far below.

The night air was cold, but he barely felt it.

At thirty years old, his life had already reached a point where nothing seemed to matter anymore.

He leaned against the rusted railing, his tired eyes watching the endless movement of cars and people in the streets below. Everyone seemed to be going somewhere, chasing something.

But him?

He had nowhere to go.

Nowhere to belong.

Kaito let out a quiet laugh, though there was no joy in it.

"…What a pathetic life."

His voice disappeared into the silent night.

Growing up, Kaito had never been special.

He wasn't ugly. In fact, many people would say he was slightly handsome if they looked closely—sharp eyes, straight nose, and naturally dark hair that fell over his forehead in a messy way.

But none of that mattered. Little above average face doens't bring food in table if your don't have a model type face.

Because Kaito had always been… average.

Average grades.

Average talent.

Average life.

The kind of person the world easily forgot.

But the real problem wasn't being average.

It was the comparison.

His older brother was the exact opposite.

Successful.

Talented.

Rich.

Everything Kaito wasn't.

Their parents loved to talk about him.

"Kaito, why can't you be more like your brother?"

"Your brother already bought a house."

"Your brother has a stable job."

"Your brother sends us money every month."

Those words had been repeated so many times throughout his life that they felt carved into his mind.

At first, Kaito had tried.

He really had.

He studied hard in school.

Worked part-time jobs.

Tried to find a good career.

But no matter what he did, it was never enough.

Every failure only made the comparison worse.

Eventually, the disappointment in his parents' eyes became too much.

And one day, the words he would never forget were spoken.

"You should just leave."

No shouting.

No anger.

Just cold indifference.

His parents had decided that their younger son was nothing but a burden.

After all, they already had a successful son.

Why keep the useless one?

So Kaito left.

No one stopped him.

No one asked him to stay.

And just like that, he became someone without a home.

Without family.

Without purpose.

Years passed.

Kaito drifted from one job to another—convenience stores, delivery work, warehouse labor.

None of it lasted long.

Life slowly became a repeating cycle of exhaustion and quiet loneliness.

Friends?

He had lost contact with most of them.

Relationships?

Those never worked either.

Who would want a man with nothing?

A man who couldn't even support himself properly?

Eventually, Kaito stopped trying.

The world had already made its judgment about him.

He was just… a failure.

Tonight was no different from any other night.

Except something inside him felt strangely calm.

Almost empty.

Kaito stared at the sky.

The clouds slowly drifted across the moon.

"…Thirty years," he muttered.

Thirty years of existing.

But not really living.

A quiet thought crossed his mind.

If I disappeared…

Would anyone even notice?

He already knew the answer.

His brother was successful.

His parents were proud of him.

Their lives would continue perfectly fine.

Kaito's existence had never been important to them.

So maybe…

It was okay for it to end.

He closed his eyes.

Memories passed through his mind like fading shadows.

Childhood.

School.

His parents' disappointed faces.

The day he left home.

The countless nights spent alone.

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

"…Maybe the next life will be better."

It was a joke.

Of course there was no next life.

That kind of thing only existed in stories.

Still…

It was a comforting thought.

He Walking in the night Breeze on the road

When suddenly out of nowhere a truck appear and hit him sending him flying across the road blood splased.

"Kh—cough…! Cough—!" Kaito's body shook as dark blood spilled from his lips.

"Truck-kun wa that you hehe" A dry bitter laugh escape from his lips he rub his mouth and blood was there in his hand's.

"That's it huh I'm going to die like this"

Pain exploded through his chest.

"Kh—cough…! Cough—!"

A violent cough escaped his lips, followed by a warm metallic taste flooding his mouth. Dark blood spilled from the corner of his lips and onto the ground.

His fingers trembled weakly against the rough road.

Above him, the dim streetlights blurred into streaks of yellow light.

Thump…Thump…

His heartbeat pounded loudly in his ears, slow and heavy. Each beat felt weaker than the last.

"Kh—cough…!"

Another painful cough shook his body. Blood dripped down his chin as his breathing became ragged and shallow.

The cold night air brushed against his skin.

Somewhere nearby, people began shouting.

"Oh my God!"

"Someone call an ambulance!"

"Hey! Stay with us!"

Footsteps rushed toward him.

Shadows gathered around his broken body.

But their faces looked distorted, like blurry shapes moving through fog.

Kaito tried to focus his eyes.

But his vision wouldn't clear.

Everything looked hazy… distant.

Their voices sounded strange too.

Muffled.

Fading.

"…Hey… can you… hear… me?"

"…call… ambu… lance…"

"…don't… close…"

The words broke apart, fading in and out like echoes underwater.

Thump…

Thump…

His heart continued to beat slowly in his chest.

Kaito's lips parted slightly.

"Kh… cough…"

A weak cough escaped him as more blood slid down his cheek.

Breathing felt harder now.

Heavy.

Like something was crushing his lungs.

The night sky above him slowly darkened as his eyelids began to droop.

The streetlights looked like distant stars.

The people around him were only shadows now.

"…stay… with…"

"…he's… losing…"

"…hurry…"

Their voices grew quieter.

More distant.

Almost gone.

Kaito's thoughts became slow and hazy.

So… this is… the end…

For thirty years, his life had been nothing but bad luck.

Thumb...

One last heartbeat Pounded and then he went nump.

His eyes open wide his body still and that day Kaito died.
