Blood was gushing out of his abdomen, yet he did not stop; instead, his steps became even faster.
It was 1 in the morning , not exactly a pleasant time for a walk, definitely not a bloody walk.
The man, Derl , slumped against a concrete pillar at the far end of the train station. Derl's breathing had become ragged; he was gasping for air from his mouth and nose. His current appearance had long since lost the elegance of the black suit he was draped in.
Footsteps echoed, the only sound in the station beside Derl breathing. Derl followed the sound with his eyes without tilting his head—not that he could.
A man came into view, draped in an atrocious golden suit with a revolver in his hand. He squatted in front of Derl , looked in Derl's still defiant eyes, and snickered.
"Ploughing the land till gold appears, cutting the hand that fed on autumn nights."
"That's what you said, no?" The man in the gold suit asked .Derl looked down for 3 full seconds and, with a raspy voice, then said, "That's what a 'bat' like me does."
The man tilted his head slightly and said with disdain, "Indeed...I was petrified, you know, that my best buddy was a traitor on all fronts." But that's that. I will end your pathetic and miserable life , consider it my mercy...friend."
Derl looked at the man now standing up, pointing his revolver at him with an expressionless face. A low chuckle escaped Derl's mouth. The man frowned. "What's wrong? Do you have any last words?"
Derl looked at the man he called his best friend, memories flashing of his own life in an instant. How much of an absolute scum he was to kill his own father at 17 before running away. How he hurt and killed several people regardless of whether they were guilty, innocent, or simply a target given by his organization.
"Yes, and I do, and also a gift." Derl said sharply. Suddenly the man's pupils dilated as he finally noticed the pin in Derl's hand and immediately fired shots at Derl's forehead; alas, he was a second late as Derl's 1st-grade grenade detonated and swallowed the whole compartment in an explosion.
Derl saw a flash of light before the sound came, and as the explosion came, he closed his eyes, thinking it would be the end of 32 years of his life. But he felt his entire body, which should not have been possible given the law of science he was taught, yet it happened.
In Derl's vision, a bizarre sight appears: 3 people; no, calling them that would be an understatement; 'entities' or 'cosmic horror beings' would be correct.
He looked down and saw he was strapped to a chair, a golden chain holding him down. Another look at his surroundings, he was in court's trial . It looked extremely ordinary, like the real court, yet the moment Derl's eyes drifted to the ceiling, his breath froze in his mouth. There was no ceiling, only sky , a black, starry sky filled with nebulas and galaxies drifting. Derl could not take his eyes off the enigmatic view he was taking in with his lowly eyes.
A loud hysterical sound came: "Sheesh...no matter how many times I see these little monkeys getting dragged here, they always freeze upon seeing us or the roof. It's too funny. HAHAHA."
"That is because it is their first time seeing a marvelous and divine being such as us." This one was calm and composed yet contained authority and arrogance that was borderline hysterical.
"You guys are so rude; don't scare away the little one. They can be paranoid and a bit dumb considering their past 2 centuries of records." The third one seemed the most sensible of the three.
Derl now got a proper look at these beings, the first one whose body shape looked exactly like a human; the only difference was that his body was completely white, with no skin and no organs, just pristine white as milk with 4 condescending crimson eyes that seemed to even see atoms and the soul of Derl.
The next was even more bizarre; he looked like a clock, his body made of white-gold metal, and in the center of it was his eye. It was as if someone took a black hole and a human eye, then merged them together. 'It is interesting to look at,' Derl thought.
The last one nearly scared the wits out of Derl. 'WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT ABOMINATION!?'
It looked like a human weird thing. 6 eyes on a face that had no upper skin, only fiber, tissue, and muscle. The most eerie thing was the shape of its head; it was as if a red-hot iron rod had been taken and hit on the head with enough force that the skull was split from the center down to the jaw, splitting the face in two parts.
The white being nearly tripped as he said while breaking into a fit, "QETS!! DID YOU JUST HEAR WHAT HE CALLED YOU! HAHHAHAHA."
Qets, the 6-eyed cosmic being, said with a weary sigh, "I heard him, Xen; no need to throw a fit over the same thing you've heard thousands of times."
Xen's laughter slowly died down as he said, "Yes, a thousand times, but by a thousand different beings calling you nearly the same thing."
Unpleasant memories surfaced in Qets's mind as she glared at him. "Thanks for reminding me, moron. Just remember I'm not giving you any more cosmic plasma fluid."
Xen immediately went into panic as he stuttered, "AH...ah, no—no need to be so serious, hehehe."
Derl watched their exchange with a now rather indifferent expression contrary to his initial confusion, courtesy of having an emo best friend. 'Great, so I died, and now I am strapped to a chair with magical chains in front of these beings who know what in the world—no, universe now are going to do with me.'
Suddenly a clap thundered that nearly busted Derl's eardrum when that same arrogant voice drifted again: "Quit. The candidate is waiting for trial." The bickering of others died instantly.
All three then turned to Derl, who now, under their evaluating gazes, bowed down his head from sheer pressure.
Then, suddenly, one of them called out, "You may now lift your head."Suddenly every weight and pressure went away as Derl lifted his head.
"My name is RITZZAR. This on my right is XEN, and on the left is QETS. We three are keepers of the potence-verse.As you know, you are now dead, and right now you are in your soul form, as you can see yourself; hence, the chains are to keep you from floating away and getting erased. With the introduction done, DERL GENISTER, we welcome you to "Court of Reincarnation."
