Chapter 3 - Allomancy

Arthur sat on a hospital bed, staring blankly at the wall before him. Three quirk specialists paced around the room, reading files.

"What a remarkable quirk." One mused to himself.

"Still, finding the correct proportions was incredibly annoying. In the early era, I doubt he would have had the chance to figure them out." Another spoke.

"The better question is," The third began to speak. "Who exactly is going to be providing the kid with the metals?"

Silence settled onto the room.

Arthur tilted his head.

"Is there a problem with my knightly inheritance?"

The first doctor flashed a comforting smile. "Ah no! Of course not. Your quirk is an exceptionally strong one. Lots of hero potential."

Arthur's expression relaxed. "So I can still become a knight?"

"Hm? Yes. Undoubtedly." The doctor replied absentmindedly, already moved on to thinking about how to correctly store the quirk information in the system.

Why does this kid want to be a knight so bad? Is there some new hero that debuted? The doctor thought to himself. I swear, kids get stranger every year.

Finishing up with his description and paperwork, the man finally turned to the child in the room. All things considered, he had been remarkably patient for a four year old. A patient patient, if you will. Heh.

"Now then boy, time for me to explain your quirk."

Arthur leaned forward, eyes sparkling.

"Finally." He breathed.

"Essentially, your quirk depends on the consumption of specific metals and their alloys. Two metals and their alloys to be specific."

Arthur nodded vigorously.

The doctor raised a finger.

"The first metal we found was iron. Upon consumption and usage, you gain the ability to attract metallic objects. The alloy of iron, steel, is used to do the opposite. With it, you can repel metals instead."

Arthur placed a hand on his chin, making an exaggeratedly serious face. "I see."

"Your second metal is tin. Simply put, it is used for the enhancement of all your five senses. Its alloy, pewter, is used for the enhancement of your physical abilities."

The more the doctor talked, the shinier the boy's eyes became.

Suddenly, he stood on top of the bed he was on.

Hand thrust upward.

"Verily I decree, with this might I shall engrave my name as history's greatest knight!"

Unfortunately, he had once again forgotten to plant his feet properly.

He fell.

Again.

None of the three doctors in the room panicked. After spending two hours with the boy, they had come to learn this was a frequent occurrence. Almost as frequent as his usage of the word 'knight'.

"Soooo…" One of them began to say. "How's the brat going to deal with his quirk's supply problem?"

The one who had previously briefed Arthur sighed. "I doubt an orphanage has the funds to spare to buy supplies of specific alloys just for one child."

"Troubling indeed." The third grunted. "Well, that's the brat's problem to solve. Our job ends here"

The second winced.

"Actually… we still have three more hours on the clock."

Three collective groans filled the air.
